“A delicate Bordeaux, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), with a nose centered on red and black fruits, enhanced by a toasty note from its 9 months in oak. On the palate, it stands out for its smooth texture, freshness, and the suppleness of its skillfully extracted tannins. Enjoy it without delay with grilled red meat seasoned with herbs. ” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2022 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Located right next to Giscours and Siran, this fifth growth—classified in 1855—had been owned by MAIF since 1988, which sold it in early 2019 to the Breton group Samsic, led by Christian Roulleau. The remarkable technical team remains in place under the leadership of Philippe Roux and Laurent Fortin, setting an example in many ways; they have undertaken significant efforts to renovate the estate with great respect for the environment and to modernize the technical facilities, complemented by a level of viticulture and winemaking that one would like to encounter more often. The most recent vintages have produced well-rounded wines that have been praised by critics: a powerful and harmonious flagship wine, and two second wines—Aurore, which is similar in style to the flagship, and La-Bastide, which is more supple.

Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the wine:
A delicate Bordeaux, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), with a nose centered on red and black fruits, enhanced by a toasty note from its 9 months in oak. On the palate, it stands out for its smooth texture, freshness, and the suppleness of its expertly extracted tannins. Enjoy it sooner rather than later with grilled red meat seasoned with herbs. 2023–2026
About the estate:
After a glorious period in the 19th century, this estate fell into decline during the first half of the 20th century, before being revived by the Miailhe family, who came from Siran; the Châtelier family, who arrived from Champagne; and finally, in 1989, by MAIF, which entrusted its management to André Lurton in 1992. Lurton’s daughter, Christine Lurton Bazin de Caix, managed the estate from 2005 to 2013. Laurent Fortin succeeded her, and in 2014, André Lurton sold his stake to MAIF. The vineyard comprises 45 hectares in a single block.

The estate has been a strong contender for several vintages now. Laurent Fortin, who has served as the estate’s director since 2014, has been launching numerous initiatives and experiments while expanding the product line. He has successfully breathed new life into the estate, which can now be considered a sure bet. Now under the ownership of the Roulleau family, the estate is expected to continue improving, with well-developed plans for vineyard management.

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Wine Enthusiast)
About the wine:
While Château Dauzac is located in Margaux, its “little brother” comes from vineyards situated on the other side of the road, within the Bordeaux appellation. It is a wine with notes of blackcurrant, a hint of fresh acidity, and a slightly structured finish. Best enjoyed starting in 2023.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
A rich, flavorful red with hints of ripe berries and plums. A juicy finish. Very easy to drink. Enjoy now or save for later.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2022 guide) 89/100
About the wine:
While the nose reveals mineral (graphite) and fruity notes, the palate is rich and slightly creamy. The tannins are silky, smooth, and in harmony with the wine’s structural tension. A fresh and delicious wine. 2022–2028
