Georges Cordier, the grandfather of the current owners, was very fond of white wines. He would likely have appreciated this lovely, highly aromatic cuvée, with its lively and vibrant character. A crisp, fruity white on the palate that reveals complexity, with a rich texture and beautiful body. A highly recommended Bordeaux! • Orders of 6 bottles of this wine shipped within France will be delivered in a wooden case •

Rated estate (2022 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

This estate, one of the most deservedly popular in the Médoc, is still owned by the Cordier family. It produces a substantial volume of wine, which has gained in character and definition since 2014. For many, Talbot embodies the ideal Saint-Julien: generously aromatic, very consistent, and reliable for aging. A lovely dry white wine, aromatic and lively, continues to be produced under the Caillou-Blanc label. The intelligent winemaking, guided by Stéphane Derenoncourt in a skillfully modernized fermentation room and cellar, is bearing fruit.

Review by Mr. PIERRE C. Posted on 02/02/2014

The first bottle was more reminiscent of a Meursault, as its richness dominated and overshadowed the Semillon's freshness. The second bottle was back to normal: freshness takes the lead, followed by richness. It's good overall, but too "Burgundian" for a Bordeaux.
