Wine rated (2023 guide) 96/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)

About wine:

With its pronounced cedar nose and broad texture, we greatly appreciated this perfect sample with the special harmony characteristic of the best Saint-Julien wines.

About the estate:

This estate, one of the most popular in the Médoc, still belongs to the Cordier family. It produces an abundant harvest, which has gained in strength and definition since 2014. For many, Talbot embodies the ideal of Saint-Julien, with its generous bouquet, great stability, and reliable aging potential. A lovely dry white wine, aromatic and lively, continues to be produced under the Caillou-Blanc label. The intelligent work carried out with the help of Stéphane Derenoncourt in a cleverly modernized vat room and cellar is bearing fruit.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 97/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

The ultimate Talbot? Undoubtedly, as the wine confirms its exceptional qualities, beauty, and balance on the palate, with a spicy finish. A wine that is perfectly in keeping with the style that has made this reliable and accessible brand so successful.

About the estate:

This powerful brand, rightly appreciated by wine lovers, has made a strong comeback, now producing the wines we have come to expect from it. Equipped with high-performance, modern facilities and skillfully managed, the vast Nancy Bignon-Cordier estate, led by Jean-Michel Laporte, is reviving the glory of its past, producing wines that are more subtle and refined than ever. A flamboyant wine, the archetype of the great classic Saint-Julien.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 96/100

About wine:

The aromas of blackcurrant and dried flowers, combined with fresh herbs such as basil and rosemary, are extremely appealing. Medium to full-bodied, this wine has firm, velvety tannins, with a tension and concentration that I haven't seen in a long time. Long and mellow finish. Solid. Drink after 2028 and beyond.

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2023 guide) 95-96/100

About wine:

A certain concentration is immediately apparent, with dense substance and a tubular shape on the palate that unfolds with class. The flesh is muscular, everything is well integrated, the aromas are subtle (blackcurrant, elderflower), and the tannins are firm but not harsh. A very serious Talbot, which has the potential to become a classic over time.

Yves Beck

Yves Beck

Wine rated (2024 guide) 97/100

About wine:

Talbot's bouquet reveals itself step by step. It starts off with a hint of reduction before revealing nuances of black berries, cedar, and graphite. With a little air, it also displays spicy nuances and a refreshing touch of eucalyptus. With good density, the wine stands out for its subtle power, harmony, and perfectly integrated tannins. A fine austerity ensures freshness and enhances the aromatic expression of the finish. A very fine achievement from Talbot! 2029-2052
