About the estate:

The wine owes its class and character to the heart of the Cantenac plateau and its deep siliceous and clayey gravel soils, which the estate largely shares with Rauzan-Ségla. Under the direction of Henri Lurton, it consistently demonstrates—with a rather rare regularity—a suppleness and aromatic finesse all its own, making it highly sought after by wine lovers who appreciate what they expect from a fine Margaux. In the most recent vintages, it seems to have taken another step forward in the precision with which it expresses the terroir. The second wine, Baron-de-Brane, shares the same aesthetic, with supple tannins that should appeal to many restaurateurs and wine enthusiasts.

Made exclusively from the château’s vineyards situated on deep gravel soils on the Brane plateau. The 2019 Brane-Cantenac has proven to be brilliant and deserves special attention. Bursting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, pencil shavings, violets, loamy soil, and cardamom, it is medium-bodied to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acidity, ripe tannins, and a beautifully balanced aromatic profile. It retains all the elegance characteristic of the estate, but with an added dimension of depth and intensity. It is the best Brane-Cantenac of the modern era and one of the great successes of the 2019 vintage. 2029–2065
