"This 2019 vintage is universally acclaimed: it turns heads—the best of the modern era, at the peak of its artistry, lively and enchanting!"

“The 2019 Brane-Cantenac has proven to be brilliant and deserves our attention. Bursting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, pencil shavings, violets, loamy soil, and cardamom, it is medium-bodied to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acidity, ripe tannins, and a beautifully balanced aromatic profile. It retains all the estate’s characteristic elegance, but with an added dimension of depth and intensity. It is the best Brane-Cantenac of the modern era and one of the great successes of the 2019 vintage.” (Wine Advocate 2022)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide): 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

The wine owes its class and character to the heart of the Cantenac plateau and its deep siliceous and clayey gravel soils, which the estate largely shares with Rauzan-Ségla. Under the direction of Henri Lurton, it consistently demonstrates—with a rather rare regularity—a suppleness and aromatic finesse all its own, making it highly sought after by wine lovers who appreciate what they expect from a fine Margaux. In the most recent vintages, it seems to have taken another step forward in the precision with which it expresses the terroir. The second wine, Baron-de-Brane, shares the same aesthetic, with supple tannins that should appeal to many restaurateurs and wine enthusiasts.

About the wine:

Made exclusively from the château’s vineyards situated on deep gravel soils on the Brane plateau. The 2019 Brane-Cantenac has proven to be brilliant and deserves special attention. Bursting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, pencil shavings, violets, loamy soil, and cardamom, it is medium-bodied to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acidity, ripe tannins, and a beautifully balanced aromatic profile. It retains all the elegance characteristic of the estate, but with an added dimension of depth and intensity. Rated Estate (2022 Guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

This Second Growth is led with conviction and talent by Henri Lurton, who has at his disposal both a truly beautiful terroir and modern facilities. There, he crafts very refined wines, in what could be described as the “Margaux signature”—without heaviness or stylistic affectation, but with delicate fruit. The estate has just released a series of impressive vintages that are propelling it to the very top of the appellation. Now is the time to enjoy them.

About the wine:

Brane-Cantenac 2019 is wild and exotic from the very first taste. The aromas alone are dazzling. Very ripe black cherry, plum, spices, tobacco, new leather, menthol, and cinnamon make up this flamboyant Margaux. This 2019 is radiant and generous, while retaining a very classic structure. Here, the precision is simply unreal. In 2019, Brane-Cantenac is turning heads. It’s the kind of wine that offers tremendous quality for the price. 2029–2059

About the wine:

The nose is enchanting, like a woodland nymph. It delights us with notes of leather, dried flowers, and fresh red berries. What majesty on the palate! It is crystal-clear and caressing, its roundness doing nothing to mask its freshness. A wine of great class, twirling and dancing.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 97/100

About the wine:

The nose is very delicate, captivating, and quintessentially Médoc—the epitome of those refined wines that emerge from gravelly soils. Blackcurrant bursts on the palate; it’s a delight. Everything is balanced and refined, with complex, velvety tannins. We’re no longer talking about aromas, but about bouquet. This is a wine of exceptional precision. The commitment to purity and delicacy—so masterfully executed at Brane-Cantenac—becomes a textbook example in this 2019 vintage. A true “ Favorite ” that we can’t wait to taste in 5, 10, or 15 years...

Favorite is in fine form. A superb, soft, deep, and complex nose. On the palate, it is at once full-bodied, velvety, elegant, smooth, light, and deep, with a myriad of nuances. It’s delicious.

About the wine:

Brane Cantenac has been on fire lately! Vintage after vintage, it’s truly at the peak of its craft, and 2019 continues this momentum! I don’t know what’s better: the silky, supple, sensual, and sexy textures on the palate, or the complex array of aromas—with notes of roses, lilacs, violets, cherries, plums, tobacco leaves, earth, and herbs. The wine has texture, length, and purity, and has the potential to age and evolve for some thirty years. This is a truly beautiful Brane Cantenac. 2027–2060
