"Creamy and smooth, this is a high-flying Poujeaux that you'll need to wait for! ~ Yves Beck"
"Poujeaux 2022 is a real burst of energy. An explosion of dark red/blue fruits, cedar, pipe tobacco, incense, new leather, and licorice fills the palate. Dense, powerful, and explosive, the 2022 certainly does not go unnoticed. It captures the very essence of the vintage in a perfect balance between fruity opulence and energy. I would recommend keeping it in the cellar for at least a few years. A wine of great richness." Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Owned by the Cuvelier family since 2008 (who also own Clos Fourtet in Saint-Émilion), this vineyard with deep gravel soils on the Grand Poujeaux plateau benefits from exceptional terroirs and optimal facilities. With advice from Stéphane Derenoncourt, the result is one of the finest moulis wines available, both rich and extremely smooth.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Omitted from the 1855 classification, Moulis remained a grain-growing region for a long time, but this wine is nonetheless one of the most renowned in the Médoc. Formerly a seigneury dependent on Latour Saint-Maubert, later Ch. Latour, it flourished in the 1920s under the Theil family, who unified the vineyard, now covering 68 hectares in a single block on the beautiful gravelly terroir of Grand-Poujeaux, and brought the estate to the top of the appellation. Since 2008, it has been owned by Philippe Cuvelier, owner of Clos Fourtet (1st Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion), who maintains the high standards of quality.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About wine:
The nose is intense, with very distinct, delicious fruit notes. On the palate, it continues to charm, with volume and great silkiness. One of the most complete wines of recent vintages.
About the estate:
An iconic property in the appellation, Poujeaux has belonged to the Cuvelier family (Clos Fourtet) since 2008. Under the leadership of its director, Christophe Labenne, advised by Stéphane Derenoncourt, the wines have steadily improved, reaching a good cruising speed, so much so that the vintage remains a benchmark in the appellation. The style tends towards finesse and elegance, which suits the wine perfectly as it ages very well. The latest vintages are well worth trying.

James Suckling
Wine rated (2025 guide) 94/100

About wine:
This wine is very structured and tannic, but its phenolic aromas are very refined and beautifully smooth. It has notes of blackcurrant and minerals, mixed with fresh herbs such as thyme and bay leaf. Medium-bodied, it has firm, silky tannins and a long, intense finish. It will age beautifully. Excellent value for money for a wine with good aging potential. Blend: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot. Wait until 2030 for it to soften.
Terre de Vins
Wine rated (2023 guide) 94-95/100
About wine:
It is characterized by its well-structured composition, offering a sensation of a full-bodied wine. The nose remains discreet today, while the palate displays a dense tannic structure that is very present, with a fresh texture, depth, and body. Fine flavors of roasted coffee and cooked black cherry. Excellent aging potential.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2024 guide) 94/100
About wine:
The Poujeaux bouquet is detailed and complex. Hints of red berries combined with notes of licorice and candied fruit combine maturity and freshness. Creamy and smooth on the attack, the wine has body and muscular, fine-grained tannins. Elegance takes over on the finish, which is fruity and persistent. A high-flying Poujeaux that will require patience. 2028-2047
