"One of the real successes of the Lafite stable in 2018. It has a rich and creamy texture on the nose, followed by a velvety texture and a full mouthfeel. Serious, with a long life ahead of it. This is one of the most voluptuous Duhart-Milon wines I have tasted, and in my opinion it will broaden the circle of fans of this wine. Lots of black fruit, bitter chocolate, licorice, slate, and pencil lead. It displays both the character of Pauillac and Cabernet Sauvignon. Very good quality. (Decanter 2020) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Eye
Beautiful dark red color with black highlights
Nose
It reveals notes of spice, smoke, blackcurrant, tobacco leaf, and cedar.
Mouth
The attack is smooth and silky. Then, gradually and maintaining the same smoothness, the wine fills the mouth at length to reveal its fresh character, typical of the late-ripening terroir of Duhart-Milon. This very dense wine with tight, delicate tannins has excellent length on the palate.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
The Duhart plateau is located in the heart of the beautiful Pauillac terroirs and is close in quality to the incomparable Lafite, although perhaps with slightly less perfect drainage. The blend makes greater use of Merlot, which better coats the very strict tannins that the terroir brings to the Cabernets. We did not find the richness and, above all, the purity of the samples tasted en primeur in the bottled wines, but the wines clearly have a distinct Pauillac character. The remarkable 2018 vintage should mark a milestone in the desired progress.

About the estate:
These former lands of the "Prince of Vines," Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur (18th century), were long owned by the Castéja family, who gave the wine its name (that of a privateer of Louis XV who settled in Pauillac after his retirement, whose house now adorns the label). Sold in 1937, fragmented and in decline, the Duhart-Milon vineyard was bought in 1962 by the Rothschilds, who restructured and expanded it, restoring it to its former glory as a 4th growth. The vineyard now covers 76 hectares adjacent to Ch. Lafite, on the Milon hillside that extends the Carruades plateau.

About wine:
Duhart-Milon 2018 is composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. With 14% alcohol, it has a deep garnet-purple color and an enticing, opulent nose of plum jam, blackberry pie, and chocolate-covered cherries, with hints of spice cake, potpourri, sandalwood, and eucalyptus oil. Medium-bodied, it is bursting with rich, spicy black fruit jams, with floral accents and a velvety texture. Long and fragrant finish. Good.

About the estate:
Lafite Rothschild's little brother enjoys the full attention of Éric Kohler and his team. Blessed with beautiful gravelly soil in the heart of Pauillac, it suffered for a long time from the young age of its vines. As the years have passed, the vineyard is now well established. Producing serious, classic, and very dense wines that age beautifully, Duhart is a sure bet in Pauillac.

About wine:
This is a mature, classic Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine. Its initially austere character blossoms into rich blackcurrant flavors that exude class. Supported by acidity and with aging notes from the wood still present, the wine is just beginning its journey. Drink from 2027.
Vinous
Wine rated (2021 guide) 94/100
About wine:
Just as it was in the barrel, Duhart-Milon 2018 is a real powerhouse. Black cherry, gravel, spices, espresso, and savory herbs give this 2018 remarkable depth and power. This Duhart-Milon is a dark, virile wine with punch. I would give it a few years to soften. The 2018 has really taken shape since its release as a primeur. In fact, the bottled wine bears little resemblance to the primeur sample, which is a very good thing. There is real density and weight here, with all the natural richness of the year. Drinking window 2026-2043.

About wine:
The nose reveals sweet berries, cherries with mild tobacco, pencil lead, and blackcurrant. It is full-bodied and very rich with layers of fruit and creamy tannins intertwined. Extremely long and creamy. A great Duhart. Try after 2026.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 94/100
About wine:
Duhart's bouquet has character, which it showcases through its terroir with notes of graphite followed by fruity nuances with hints of blackberries. On the palate, the wine is precise, slightly creamy and well supported by a tight tannic structure. The aromatic expression slowly reveals itself on the palate. It is ideally supported by the acidity, which also lends it class and liveliness. A Duhart with character that has everything it needs to age well and displays beautiful balance. 2025-2050
Jean-Marc Quarin
Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100
About wine:
Served decanted. Dark, intense, and beautiful color. Very aromatic, subtle nose with ripe fruit. Refined on the palate, the wine immediately develops into a very fruity, mellow, flavorful wine with a meticulous texture. It melts on the palate, graceful and subtle, with noble accents. It is long and very good.
