Always striving for excellence is the credo of Château Grand-Puy Ducasse and its team, led by Anne Le Naour and Benjamin Cassoulet. The second wine, Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse, was created in 1955 to mark the 100th anniversary of the estate's classification. It is a dense wine with jammy red fruit flavors! - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
This vintage comes from several plots spread across the entire appellation. One, located in Grand Puy, gave it its name and produces the most distinguished part of the blend, which has progressed well under the guidance of the highly competent Anne Le Naour. There is still room for improvement, which will be made possible by the imminent construction of a new vat room, allowing for precise plot selection and even more careful aging.
Decanter
Wine rating (2019 guide) 92/100 (2015 vintage)
About wine:
The second wine of the Pauillac Grand Cru Classé, Château Grand-Puy Ducasse, comes from the estate's young vines, which border Châteaux Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite-Rothschild, and Pontet-Canet to the north. It is a bold red wine with supple tannins, elegant aging, and bright acidity, which balances the generous palate of black fruits and spicy plums. Drink now while young, or keep for a few more years.

About the estate:
Built mainly in the 18th century by lawyer Arnaud Ducasse, the property took its current name in 1932. The château overlooking the Gironde dates back to 1820. Three large gravel plots make up this 40-hectare vineyard, owned by CA Grands Crus (Crédit Agricole group) since 2004.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About the estate:
Like Meyney, Grand-Puy Ducasse belongs to a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole (CA Grands Crus). Although we were somewhat disappointed by certain vintages from the early 2000s, which were clearly below the standard of a good cru classé, things are changing: the estate has set itself the ambitious goal of producing a wine worthy of its rank. Anne Le Naour, who manages the estate and supervises the winemaking, is gradually introducing the refinement that was often lacking in the wine. Since 2015, progress has been steady.

Wine rating (2018 guide) 90/100 (2015 vintage)
Rated estate (2021 guide) Recommended
About wine:
The aromas of summer berries and dark plums are quite robust, with notes of violet and blackcurrant. The palate has a soft, pastry-like tannic texture, slightly grainy and layered. Very fresh and elegant finish.
Vert de Vin
Wine rating (2019 guide) 90-91/100 (2015 vintage) (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About wine:
The nose is fruity and structured. It reveals notes of crushed raspberry, berries, and subtle hints of blackcurrant, combined with touches of racy minerality and a very discreet hint of spice/pepper. The palate is fruity, juicy, and smooth, offering lovely minerality, a beautiful fresh structure, fine acidity, richness, and good texture. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of crushed blackcurrant, crushed strawberry and, more subtly, fresh raspberry, combined with hints of chocolate, caramelized oak, a subtle hint of gravel (racy/terroir) and a hint of bitterness on the finish. The tannins are fine, well-integrated and straightforward. Good length.

What a nose! A deep color and an appealing aroma. It starts well, with an initial woody sensation on the palate. A very pleasant Pauillac that can be cellared for at least 15 years!
