"The critics are unanimous: a success in 2019, excellent second wine, terrific!"

"This is a formidable second wine. Supple, racy and vibrant, this 2019 is exceptionally beautiful from the outset. It exudes a palpable, seductive energy and vivacity. Notes of crushed flowers, sweet red fruits and mint mingle on the persistent, sculpted finish." Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

This cru is made from several parcels spread throughout the appellation. One, in the Grand Puy area, gives it its name and produces the most racy part of the blend, which has progressed well under the guidance of the highly competent Anne Le Naour. There are still a few areas for improvement, which will be made possible by the imminent construction of a new vat room, enabling precise parcel selections and even more meticulous ageing.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 90/100

About the wine:

The mid-palate is much fleshier, with an unctuous, velvety character. On the finish, however, it retains a classic Pauillac touch. A hit in 2019. Fresh, juicy fruit, black berries and currants. Seductive, fragrant nose. 2024-2028

About the domain :

Essentially created in the 18th century by the lawyer Arnaud Ducasse, the estate took its present name in 1932. The château overlooking the Gironde dates back to 1820. Three large parcels of gravel make up this 40-hectare cru, owned by CA Grands Crus (Crédit Agricole Group) since 2004.

Domaine noté (guide 2022) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

Like Meyney, Grand-Puy Ducasse is owned by a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole (CA Grands Crus). If we were a little disappointed by some of the vintages from the early 2000s, clearly below the level of a good cru classé, things are changing: the estate's stated ambition is to produce a wine worthy of its rank. Anne Le Naour, who manages the vineyard and supervises vinification, is gradually bringing the refinement that was often lacking to the estate. Since 2015, progress has been steady.

Domaine noté (guide 2021) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Wine Enthusiast)

About the wine:

This is the second wine of the Cru Classé Grand-Puy Ducasse. Composed of half Cabernet Sauvignon and half Merlot, it clearly contains a large proportion of the Merlot that was not retained for the first wine. This means that the wine is supple and accessible, and will evolve relatively quickly. It is full-bodied and dense, with fine smoky notes and well-presented tannins. Drink from 2025. - Roger Voss

About the wine:

This wine has a smoky character with notes of blackcurrant and plum, bark, toasted oak and chocolate. A touch of mushroom too. Medium-bodied, with polished tannins and a velvety texture. Earthy finish. An excellent second wine. Drink after 2025.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100

About the wine:

The second wine from this remarkable château boasts a deep purple/plum color and a lively bouquet of red and black fruits, wet river pebbles, smoky tobacco and chocolatey oak. This is a rich, medium- to full-bodied Pauillac, with good mid-palate density, remarkable ripeness, abundant tannins, and a magnificent finish. It doesn't have the elegance of the Grand Vin, but it's a satisfying Pauillac to drink over the next 15 years.
