Wine rated (2019 guide) 16,5/20 + Favorite (Reference wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About wine:
Beautiful notes of cedar, tight texture, elegant tannins, the wine has aged well and fully reflects the vintage. Excellent value for money.
About the estate:
This vintage comes from several plots spread across the entire appellation. One, located in Grand Puy, gave it its name and produces the most distinguished part of the blend, which has progressed well under the guidance of the highly competent Anne Le Naour. There is still room for improvement, which will be made possible by the imminent construction of a new vat room, allowing for precise plot selection and even more careful aging.

About the estate:
Built mainly in the 18th century by lawyer Arnaud Ducasse, the property took its current name in 1932. The château overlooking the Gironde dates back to 1820. Three large gravel plots make up this 40-hectare vineyard, owned by CA Grands Crus (Crédit Agricole group) since 2004.

About wine:
The Grand Puy-Ducasse 2015 has a traditional bouquet of pencil lead and powerful cedar on the first nose. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy attack supported by fairly robust tannins, but fortunately this Pauillac seeks finesse on the finish, which gives it a nice balance and good length on the palate. Although this was not a barrel tasting, I believe that the tannins will soften and make this one of the estate's best wines in recent years. My rating is based on this optimism.

Wine rating (2019 guide) 16.5/20 + Favorite (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About wine:
Continuing its progression, the 2015 vintage is very dense, powerful, and muscular, with a lovely definition of fruit. It now lacks a little extra finesse to join the ranks of the best.
About the estate:
Like Meyney, Grand-Puy Ducasse belongs to a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole (CA Grands Crus). Although we were somewhat disappointed by certain vintages from the early 2000s, which were clearly below the standard of a good cru classé, things are changing: the estate has set itself the ambitious goal of producing a wine worthy of its rank. Anne Le Naour, who manages the estate and supervises the winemaking, is gradually introducing the refinement that was often lacking in the wine. Since 2015, progress has been steady.

About wine:
This generous, mature wine is full of fine tannins and juicy blackcurrants. It is accessible in the sense that the fruit is so delicious. However, be aware of the firm, dense tannins that will allow the wine to age. It is best to wait until 2024.

About wine:
As the expression goes, "it's like baby Jesus in velvet pants"! The supple and very velvety texture gives this wine a lot of charm, with an aromatic profile dominated by black berries and spices and a round and juicy palate.
