Wine rated (2019 guide) 16,5/20 + Favorite (Reference wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the wine:
Beautiful notes of cedar, a firm structure, and elegant tannins; the wine has matured beautifully during aging and fully showcases the vintage. Excellent value for the price.
About the estate:
This wine is made from grapes grown on several plots spread throughout the appellation. One of them, located in the Grand Puy area, gave the wine its name and produces the most distinguished component of the blend, which has developed well under the guidance of the highly skilled Anne Le Naour. There is still room for improvement, which will be made possible by the imminent construction of a new fermentation tank, allowing for precise plot-by-plot selections and even more meticulous aging.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
The estate, which was largely established in the 18th century by the lawyer Arnaud Ducasse, took on its current name in 1932. The château, which overlooks the Gironde River, dates back to 1820. This 40-hectare vineyard consists of three large plots of gravelly soil and has been owned by CA Grands Crus (part of the Crédit Agricole group) since 2004.

About the wine:
The 2015 Grand Puy-Ducasse has a traditional bouquet of pencil lead and powerful cedar notes on the initial nose. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy attack supported by fairly robust tannins, but fortunately this Pauillac seeks finesse on the finish, resulting in a beautiful balance and a good length on the palate. Although this was not a barrel tasting, I believe the tannins will mellow and make this one of the estate’s best wines in recent years. My rating is based on this optimism.

Rated wine (2019 guide) 16.5/20 + Editor's Choice (Excellent wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
Continuing to develop, the 2015 is dense, powerful, and robust, with lovely fruit definition. It now just needs a touch more finesse to rank among the best.
About the estate:
Like Meyney, Grand-Puy Ducasse is owned by a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole (CA Grands Crus). While we were somewhat disappointed by certain vintages from the early 2000s—which clearly fell short of the standard expected of a good cru classé—things are changing: the estate’s stated ambition is to produce a wine worthy of its status. Anne Le Naour, who manages the estate and oversees winemaking, is adding subtle touches of the refinement that the wine often lacked. Since 2015, progress has been steady.

About the wine:
This full-bodied, ripe wine is brimming with fine tannins and juicy blackcurrants. It’s approachable, thanks to its delicious fruit. Be aware, however, of the firm, dense tannins that will allow the wine to age well. It’s best to wait until 2024.

Wine rated (2018 guide) 16,5/20
About the wine:
As the saying goes, "it's a real treat"! The wine's supple, velvety texture gives it a lot of charm, with an aromatic profile dominated by black berries and spices, and a round, juicy palate.
