Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 15/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2020 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the wine:
Very well-made, flavorful, with notes of tobacco and licorice, good depth, and fairly refined tannins.
About the estate:
It is owned by Philippe Castéja, who also owns Château Batailley in Pauillac and Château Trottevieille in Saint-Émilion. Well situated on the plateau north of the town, the estate has always produced a robust wine, which has gained in elegance in recent years.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
The flagship wine of Borie Manoux, a venerable wine merchant founded in 1870 by the Castéja family—one of Pauillac’s oldest families—which has owned the estate since 1932. A beautiful 55-hectare estate located at the southwestern edge of the appellation, it is said to owe its name to a battle that took place on these lands in 1453.

A level of acidity that quickly brings out sleek mineral notes on the palate, with a lovely, fruity roundness on the finish.
