Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
It is owned by Philippe Castéja, who also owns Château Batailley in Pauillac and Château Trottevieille in Saint-Émilion. Well situated on the plateau north of the town, the estate has always produced a robust wine, which has gained in elegance in recent years.
Decanter
Wine rated (2020 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
Château Haut-Bages Monpelou is a Gem Pauillac, and once again, it’s well worth buying. It’s full of notes of charcoal, pencil lead, and blackcurrant. A lovely wine with a beautiful tannic structure.

Wine noted (guide 2022) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the wine:
A light wine with a pleasant aromatic profile, centered on delicate fruity notes intertwined with subtle spices. The palate follows the same graceful line, revealing a refined and well-integrated tannic structure that leads to a long and elegant finish.
About the estate:
The flagship wine of Borie Manoux, a venerable wine merchant founded in 1870 by the Castéja family—one of Pauillac’s oldest families—which has owned the estate since 1932. A beautiful 55-hectare estate located at the southwestern edge of the appellation, it is said to owe its name to a battle that took place on these lands in 1453.

It is dense and layered, with notes of dark fruit and earth, as well as hints of mushrooms and hazelnuts. Full-bodied. Juicy fruit and tannins.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2020 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
A deep garnet red color with purple highlights. The bouquet clearly reflects the terroir and aging process, with notes of graphite, black berries, and licorice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet refined. It is well-balanced, with perfectly integrated tannins and excellent aromatic expression.
Anthocyanes - Yohan Castaing
Wine rated (2019 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
The nose is somewhat closed, with notes of spice and graphite. Quite classic on first impression. The palate is moderately dense, a bit harsh with firm tannins and a slight Medoc-style austerity.
