Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
A new, ultra-modern, luxurious, and efficient winery reflects the ambitions of the new owner, Jacky Lorenzetti. He clearly aims to produce one of the best wines in his appellation and has acquired top-quality vineyards near Mouton-Rothschild, which should help him achieve his goal. These technically brilliant wines continue to improve with each new vintage.
Decanter
Wine rated (2026 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
On the nose, dark aromas: fragrant violet blossoms, tobacco, cedar, licorice, and black cherries—with somewhat medicinal notes. Round and beautifully textured—supple and approachable, it offers a magnificent touch of red fruit on the mid-palate, with a slight chalky note that pairs wonderfully with fine, delicate tannins, but it is above all its energy that I really love. Very well-structured and balanced. Less “powerful” than some vintages, it is approachable and captivating. A fabulous wine. A beautiful concentration on the finish, with notes of licorice, tobacco, and wet stones. Truly very impressive. 1% Petit Verdot rounds out the blend. pH 3.68. 65 IPT. Aging: 50% in new oak barrels. Harvested September 8–20. 2033–2050

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Françoise and Jacky Lorenzetti sold their real estate agency network (Foncia) and purchased this château in 2009 from the Jugla family. They undertook major renovations in the vineyard and cellar (construction of a new wine cellar by Jean-Michel Wilmotte) to restore the reputation of this estate founded in 1810, whose vineyards now cover approximately 50 hectares following the acquisition of new plots.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
This is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular improvements seen in Bordeaux in recent years. Pédesclaux, acquired by Jacky Lorenzetti in 2009, has undergone a complete transformation—from the vineyards to the cellars—that is both spectacular and at the cutting edge of modernity. Under the guidance of Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen, the wines have improved steadily, vintage after vintage, with small, careful adjustments. They are now fully deserving of their classification and, above all, stand out as remarkable value for money.

Yves Beck
Wine rated (2026 guide) 94-95/100
About the wine:
50% of the barrels used to age Pédesclaux are new, including some large oak casks, while the proportion of 400-liter barrels has been increased. Ideally, we’d like to reach 20% 400-liter barrels and large oak casks, explains Christophe Bonjour. With good intensity, the bouquet of Pédesclaux reveals classic hints of cedar and graphite, complemented by notes of black berries and licorice, followed by a touch of fresh wood. On the palate, the wine is smooth on the attack and features perfectly integrated tannins. These tannins, precise and powerful, provide structure and consolidate the entire palate, working in harmony with the acidity, which imparts a welcome freshness as well as a touch of salinity on the finish. 2029–2050
