"Fieuzal is one of the greats in Pessac-Léognan ~ Yves Beck"

"The Château de Fieuzal 2019 has a complex nose, blending red and black fruits, crushed stone, and a hint of black truffle. Serious. The palate is beautifully balanced with firm, fairly "solid" tannins, a Pessac-Léognan built for the long term with a sapid, almost saline finish. This is the best Fieuzal of recent years." (Vinous 2023) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

This vintage was long famous first for its white wine, one of the most complete in Léognan, and then also for its red, at its best one of the most brilliant illustrations of the character of Pessac-Léognan. The last decade has marked a return to the highest level for Fieuzal white. The new, ultra-efficient cellars, with numerous small vats of various sizes, made of concrete, stainless steel, or wood, now allow Stephen Carrier, the director, to produce haute couture wines.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 94/100

About wine:

This wine is ripe and rich, and the fruit is also well expressed. It is very full-bodied on the attack, with firm tannins that assert themselves. A truly impressive Fieuzal that starts with confidence and never strays from the line. Chocolate chips and licorice notes contrast with slate and savory blackcurrant, illustrating Pessac's tightrope walk between intensity and elegance. 2026-2040

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

This classified growth located in the southernmost part of Léognan produced some of Bordeaux's greatest white wines in the 1980s. After being sold to Banque Populaire in 1994, Fieuzal declined until 2001. That year, Irish businessman Lochlann Quinn purchased the estate and hired Stephen Carrier from Champagne as its director. Since then, the estate has returned to excellent form, with a clear focus on body, structure and tannic elegance in the reds, and freshness with the arrival of consultant Thomas Duclos. With some failures (2013) and great successes (2008), the whites are gradually regaining their full-bodied, intense character and aging potential.

About wine:

The succulence of this wine is impressive and palpable. It adds blackcurrant fruit to the spices, while maintaining solid tannins in the background. This beautiful combination means that it will certainly age well. Drink from 2026 onwards.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95/100

About wine:

From the outset, Fieuzal's bouquet stands out for its freshness, fruity expression, and floral notes. Both the freshness and fruity expression are also present on the attack. The wine has character, a juicy structure, and fine tannins, gradually gaining momentum to assert itself serenely on the finish. They go hand in hand with the acidic structure. These two elements lend freshness, fullness and potential. They also underscore how much Fieuzal belongs among the greats of Pessac-Léognan! 2024-2044

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is elegant, delicate and subtle, with a lovely silky quality, class and a beautiful finesse of grain. There are notes of fresh, pulpy blackberry, raspberry and, more subtly, crunchy berries, combined with hints of iris, fresh lily, redcurrant, mocha and discreet (elegant) varietal notes, with subtle hints of sweet spices and toast. There is a subtle/very discreet hint of fresh saffron (in its floral aspect). The palate is fruity, balanced, beautifully elegant, with finesse and mastery, offering brightness, lovely definition, richness, roundness, a certain power, and a richness that is all finesse and mastery. There is precision in this wine. It is creamy but with finesse, not opulent or heavy. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, violet, fleshy/juicy redcurrants and, more subtly, lily and iris, combined with hints of fleshy red berries, toast, and subtle touches of tonka bean, cardamom, salty minerality, mocha, and a subtle hint of toast. The tannins are elegant and refined. Good length.

About wine:

Aromatically, flavors of chocolate, flowers, espresso, smoke, black cherries, and plums are easily found. The wine is fresh, vibrant, sweet, lush, chocolatey, and full of ripe berries. Give it a few years in the cellar and it will really start to shine. Drink between 2024 and 2038.
