“With fascinating purity and boundless energy, this wine should age beautifully for over 15 years! ~ Jeff Leve”

“Reserved yet subtle and nuanced, this substantial white wine is quietly coming into its own, already displaying excellent structure and great balance. Its structure is remarkable, and the harmony between the Sauvignon and Sémillon is exemplary. Varietal expression is not its focus, nor is exuberance; instead, it looks to the future. ” (La Revue du Vin de France 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

This classified growth is a model of a family-run estate, with all the Kressmann children showing an almost filial devotion to their heritage and a very sound management style. The red has gained significantly in tannin finesse and textural elegance. The wines are classic, with an emphasis on fruit, quality tannins, and freshness. Under the guidance of the highly talented and meticulous Valérie Vialard, the whites are impeccable, precise, aromatic, and perfectly lively.

Decanter

Decanter

Wine rated (2025 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

Lively and tangy, with a vibrant palate—direct and concentrated, featuring citrus aromas enhanced by a hint of oak on the finish, which slightly tempers the wine’s freshness and approachability but adds complexity over time. 2023–2028

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

While many of Bordeaux’s leading wine merchants have chosen to establish themselves in the Médoc, the Kressmanns opted for the Graves region and this estate, acquired in 1930, which takes its name from a tower that stands in its courtyard—a remnant of a château built in the 12th century by ancestors of Montesquieu. A beautiful 50-hectare estate renowned for both its white and red wines.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 93/100

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

Reserved yet subtle and nuanced, this substantial white wine is quietly coming into its own, already displaying excellent structure and great balance. Its structure is remarkable, and the harmony between the Sauvignon and Sémillon is exemplary. It does not aim to showcase varietal character or exuberance; rather, it looks to the future.

About the estate:

Here is a fine example of a family-owned estate, still in the hands of the Kressmanns, a historic family of Bordeaux wine merchants. Tristan and Loïc Kressmann are now at the helm of this cru classé, which enjoys a prime location on the Martillac plateau. Generation after generation has preserved the legacy passed down to them, while making steady progress in vineyard management and winemaking under the guidance of their cellar master, Valérie Vialard. The château inaugurated a new winemaking cellar for red wines with the 2019 vintage. Without succumbing to the allure of passing trends, the wines have retained their elegant and precise style; however, they are gaining in density. This highly convincing balance between tradition and modernity, as well as the particularly distinguished character of the latest vintages, leads us to award Latour-Martillac a second star.

About the wine:

Aromas of white fruit and toast are enhanced by spicy notes and hints of sliced apple, the result of a hot, dry year. Ripe, with a touch of honey contrasting with citrus acidity, this wine is a classic example of this Cru Classé. Best enjoyed starting in 2026. — Roger Voss

Wine rated (2025 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

A precise and appealing nose, mineral, with subtle notes of crème fraîche, guava, sliced apples, and a hint of green currants. Lively and textured, with a medium- to full-bodied structure and a long, slightly phenolic finish. An exceptional wine. Enjoy now or celller.

About the wine:

A blend of 52% Sauvignon Blanc and 48% Sémillon, the 2022 Château Latour-Martillac Blanc offers a chalky, mineral-driven nose with hints of reduction, crushed citrus, and mint. With fascinating purity and boundless energy, this wine was aged for 15 months in oak barrels and should age beautifully for over 15 years. Total production: 2,250 cases. 2025–2040
