Wine rated (2026 guide) 95/100

Rated estate (2020 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Blackcurrant and graphite open up a refined nose. Dense, velvety, and almost Pomerol-like on the palate, this wine combines power, finesse, and a lively finish very much in the Saint-Émilion style.

About the estate:

Château Grand Corbin-Despagne is undoubtedly the best value for money in Saint-Émilion, with its 29 hectares situated on a terroir dominated by sandy soils. The owner, François Despagne, has worked tirelessly to achieve this result, with a commitment to organic farming that contributes to the wine’s success. This Saint-Émilion combines vigor, silkiness, aromatic distinction, and superb aging potential. A tasting ranging from the 2016 vintage back to 1947 allowed us to fully appreciate the wine’s style, which possesses a finesse and harmony superior to many “modern-style” classified growths. As it ages, it can come to resemble a great Pomerol in several vintages.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

About the estate:

In 2019, this great wine displays vitality and energy, which are a reflection of the clay soils. It has great aging potential. With more focus on its tension, texture, a hint of licorice, and peppery tannins, the 2018 is not quite fully developed yet but promises a bright future. The 2015, with its deep red color, develops a richness of bold, powerful tannins with a refined, structured character.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 94-95/100

About the wine:

A classic Saint-Émilion with aromas of blueberry and raspberry, featuring chalky notes that give it a hint of earthiness. Medium-bodied, with a slightly sweet finish.

Le Figaro Wines

Le Figaro vins

Winery rated 93/100

About the estate:

The wines evoke red berries and flowers in an intense and complex way, then evolve toward more spicy notes. The palate is characterized by finesse and smoothness. The tannins are velvety.
