About wine:

A particular success for this Cabernet Franc-dominated estate located next to Cheval Blanc. Jean Faure 2020 bursts with aromas of cherry, minty blackberry, rose petals, and cardamom. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, fleshy and consistent, it is supple and smooth, its enveloping core of vibrant fruit concealing soft, powdery tannins, ending with an expansive and fragrant finish. This beautiful wine stands out for its fragrance and ultra-refined texture. 2025-2050

Wine rating (2024 guide) 95/100 Favorite

Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About wine:

Don't look for exuberance and richness here. On the contrary, the wines from this estate assert themselves with great elegance of style. The dominance of Cabernet Franc gives the 2020 a fresh aroma and carves out a magnificent, slender, refined palate. A wine of great class.

About the estate:

Ideally located between Cheval-Blanc, La Dominique, and Ripeau, Château Jean-Faure was acquired in 2004 by Olivier Decelle, who also owns Mas Amiel in Roussillon and part of the young Nuit-Saint-Georges négociant, Decelle-Villa. Thoroughly redesigned, Jean Faure reveals, vintage after vintage, striking and exciting similarities with the Pomerol style of Cheval-Blanc, without being a copy of it in any way. This is because Jean Faure explores a unique "Pinot-like" fruitiness with its Cabernets. This progress could only be achieved by focusing the estate's efforts on major agronomic improvements. Cabernet Franc is no longer considered here as a complement to the blend, but is valued as the heart of the wine.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100

About wine:

Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, orange peel, and rose petal linger in a medium to full body, with creamy, polished tannins and a juicy finish. Made from organically grown grapes. Give it 3 or 4 years to blossom.

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2021 guide) 94/100

About wine:

An example of drinkability from an estate that pays close attention to freshness. Add to that a juicy flesh that has made the most of the vintage and its generosity. Nothing but pleasure and brilliant acidity.

Yves Beck

Wine rated (2023 guide) 95/100

About wine:

This wine has achieved a great deal, gaining in detail and precision. It is beginning to reveal its nature, its depth, and its capabilities. And these are undeniably high! On the palate, the wine stays on course, maintaining its path toward freshness. It has a restrained power, but one that is oh so effective and relevant. A wine that stands out mainly for its muscle and straightforwardness. From a taste perspective, it is restrained; it is in standby mode! 2028-2048

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is fresh, elegant, distinguished, and offers controlled richness, precision, a certain purity of fruit, complexity, controlled density, a lingering quality, and a lovely finesse of grain. There are notes of pulpy Boysenberry, blueberry, and a hint of blackcurrant, combined with touches of violet, ripe wild black berries/morello cherry, and hints of bright red berries, Timut pepper, peony, fresh blond tobacco, and subtle hints of star anise, cinnamon, and spices (Malbec). The palate is fruity, elegant, delicate and juicy, offering deliciousness, tension, lovely freshness, an airy character in the balance, hidden power/controlled power, minerality, energy, creaminess, purity of fruit and a lovely tartness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of bright blackberry, bright violet plum and, more subtly, tart/pulpy blue berries combined with hints of strawberry, chocolate, black tea, peony, as well as subtle hints of lily, cardamom, discreet hints of caramelized oak, and an imperceptible hint of Bourbon vanilla pod. The tannins are precise, elegant, and finely creamy. Good length and persistence. A lovely, elegant wine offering beautiful richness, freshness, and balance. There is an imperceptible hint of pleasant bitterness and coffee on the finish/persistence.
