"One of the appellation's best buys, combining elegance and character!"

"Spiced with fresh herbs, forest leaves, and Asian spices that accompany blackcurrant and blackberry. There is a lot of freshness in the ripe fruit, concentration, and a nice touch of cocoa, as well as a firm tannic edge that allows the wine to age and evolve. This is clearly the best Beau-Site vintage ever produced!" (Jeff Leve 2022).

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated 92/100

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About wine:

Elegant, precise tannins, light, small red fruit, lovely lingering flavor. Appealing balance.

About the estate:

A magnificent charterhouse overlooking the river, Beau-Site enjoys one of the most beautiful panoramas in the northern part of the appellation. It belongs to Philippe Castéja, who also owns the Batailley and Trottevieille châteaux. The estate produces an elegant, distinguished wine that is always full-bodied without lacking finesse or elegance. The property has reached a new milestone.

Decanter

Decanter

Wine rated (2020 guide) 90/100

About wine:

The color is a deep purple, the attack is clearly austere, but it is accompanied by a concentration of blackcurrant fruit and a confident tannic structure. The signature of the appellation is clearly present, with a touch of bitterness on the finish, but it remains on the side of coffee grounds. 2024 - 2038

About wine:

Lots of spice here, with nutmeg and cloves complementing the currants and berries. Medium-bodied, with firm tannins and a caressing finish. A solid young red wine for this estate. Best after 2025 and beyond.

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2020 guide) 92/100

About wine:

Part of the Castéja family, this vineyard is ideally located on a hilltop adjacent to Calon-Ségur. It is typical of the appellation with its notes of graphite, zan, and black fruits. On the palate, it is surprisingly round, with mellow tannins and a delicious texture. The Merlot and Cabernet blend is beautifully integrated, with 3% Petit Verdot adding a lively touch. Definitely a good buy.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 90-92/100

About wine:

The bouquet of Beau-Site 2019 offers notes of blueberry, blackberry, and blackcurrant with a slight hint of spice and graphite. On the palate, Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure with well-integrated tannins, medium density, and a spicy, mineral finish. Structuring, long-lasting tannins.

I opened a bottle in 2024 and it still seemed closed to me... Well, the one I opened last Friday was perfect, so I'm going to order some more (13.5% alcohol, with a perfect palate and finish).
