"Delicious when young, yet with the potential to age well. Excellent value for the price!"

“On the nose, aromas of blackcurrant enhanced by a spicy note and a hint of red licorice. A medium-bodied wine with fine tannins that are harmoniously distributed on the palate. Fresh and delicious. Juicy. Round. Ready to drink now or for aging.” (James Suckling 2023)

Rated estate (2021 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

A magnificent Chartreuse overlooking the river, Beau-Site boasts one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the northern part of the appellation. It is owned by Philippe Castéja, who also owns the Châteaux Batailley and Trottevieille. The estate produces an elegant, refined wine that is always full-bodied without lacking finesse or elegance. The estate has reached a new milestone.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

I love the lively attack, which leads to a somewhat raw tannic power, derived mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon, which is well-ripened thanks to a terroir located at a higher elevation—for the Médoc—and dominated by gravel. Harmonious notes of blackcurrant and savory creosote, with freshness on a long finish. Excellent value for the price. Best enjoyed with a summer barbecue. 2023–2033

Wine rated (2021 guide) 90/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity and offers a subtle intensity, with rich, juicy, ripe fruit. It features notes of raspberry, cherry, and, to a lesser extent, blackberry, combined with hints of violet, blueberry, and vanilla...

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant and red currant, coffee beans, licorice, and smoke. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, creamy, and fresh, with a supple texture; it offers flavors of red berries with chalky undertones and a hint of chocolate in the background, both on the mid-palate and in the finish. It will be delicious in its youth while also having the potential to age for over a decade. Best enjoyed between 2023 and 2038.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Intense purple color with violet highlights. A refined, elegant nose evoking red and black fruits—notably blackberry, elderberry, and blackcurrant—with hints of raw meat, complemented by nuances of gingerbread spices and a lovely toasty oak character. On the palate, the wine is well-structured and balanced, with ripe yet still firm tannins, notes of red fruits and black cherry, as well as a very full-bodied and spicy character on the finish. The wine is well-balanced overall, with excellent length and lingering notes of oak and spices on the finish.

Medium-deep to deep cherry-red color with an orange rim. Nose: sultry, ripe red and dark fruit, cherries, plums, iron, blood, and spice. Complex aromas. On the palate, those sultry, ripe fruit notes are repeated, along with plum compote, fine-grained tannins, structure, grip, and some dark notes for balance. In a blind tasting, I wouldn’t have immediately identified this wine as a Bordeaux! Score: 16/20

I opened a bottle in 2024 and it still seemed a bit closed to me... well, the one I opened last Friday was perfect, so I'm going to order some more (a wine at 13.5% with a perfect palate and finish).
