Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 16.5/20 (Benchmark wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the wine:
We love its expressive and complex nose, and its straightforward, intensely fruity, full-bodied palate, with a lively structure and great tension on the finish. Classy.
About the estate:
Superbly situated in the commune of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle and surrounded by noble peers, Château Gloria is now owned by Jean-Louis Triaud and his wife, the daughter of Henri Martin, its “founder” (just like Château Saint-Pierre). This estate has now fully regained its former glory. Gloria’s wines feature pure fruit and a supple structure, with exceptionally refined tannins. They are true classics of the appellation.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
This estate, which today spans 50 hectares, was built from the ground up starting in 1942 by one of the region’s leading figures, Henri Martin, who for years acquired plots from Grand Cru Classé vineyards in the heart of Beychevelle, as well as to the west and north of the appellation. His daughter Françoise and her husband Jean-Louis Triaud, who managed Gloria and the entire Domaines Martin estate, handed over control of their properties to their son Jean in 2016.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated wine (2018 guide) 91/100 (Excellent wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
The 2015 Gloria, a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, and 6% Cabernet Franc, was aged for 14 months in 40% new oak barrels and 60% one-year-old barrels. Deep garnet-purple in color, it has an earthy, full-bodied nose with a core of black plums and blackberries, as well as hints of eucalyptus and anise. The medium-bodied palate is just a bit lean and velvety, with an earthy finish.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 17/20 (Great wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
A wine that is opulent, full-bodied, and rich, the 2015 vintage is already well-developed and very appealing. It will, however, age beautifully.
About the estate:
Patiently assembled, plot by plot, in the second half of the 20th century by Henri Martin, Gloria is one of the leading unclassified wines of the Médoc. This reputation is well-deserved, as evidenced by the latest vintages. Always full-bodied, colorful, and concentrated, the wine has rarely disappointed over the past decade. It ages harmoniously, but those in a hurry can enjoy it as early as five years after bottling.

Wine rated (2018 guide) 94/100
Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Wine Enthusiast)
About the wine:
One of the two Saint-Julien classified growth estates owned by the descendants of Henri Martin, this estate has been renovated, and the results are evident in this well-crafted wine. The ripe tannins are balanced by smoky blackberry fruit and a clean, crisp acidity. Best enjoyed starting in 2024.

James Suckling
Wine rated (2018 guide) 94/100
About the wine:
What a beautiful, young, and supple wine, with ultra-fine tannins and lively acidity. Medium- to full-bodied, with direct and persistent tannins. It displays such beauty. It will be even better starting in 2020, but it’s already superb.

The wine is okay, but slightly unbalanced on the palate. It lacks a bit of freshness and elegance.
