"A sure bet with charm!"

"What freshness in this bouquet, where Cabernet Sauvignon excels in its ability to highlight the fruit and freshness. It lingers and makes its presence felt on the palate, giving the wine character and a beautiful fruity intensity. The tannins are lively and slightly angular, which suits the style of the wine very well; it has a spirited flavor and charm. Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2022 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

This estate, one of the most popular in the Médoc, still belongs to the Cordier family. It produces an abundant harvest, which has gained in strength and definition since 2014. For many, Talbot embodies the ideal of Saint-Julien, with its generous bouquet, great stability, and reliable aging potential. A lovely dry white wine, aromatic and lively, continues to be produced under the Caillou-Blanc label. The intelligent work carried out with the help of Stéphane Derenoncourt in a cleverly modernized vat room and cellar is bearing fruit.

About wine:

A smooth nose of milk chocolate, sweet and delicate, with blackcurrant candies. Good definition, well-integrated chewy tannins that support the bright fruit, but also that creamy milk chocolate taste. I like this wine, its soft core, its red cherry skin texture, its grip and interest as the juice and brightness pass underneath, then into the long, fresh finish. It's not a breathtaking wine, but there are really a lot of charming elements. The tannins need a little more time. 2023-2034

About the estate:

This powerful brand, rightly appreciated by wine lovers, has made a strong comeback, now producing the wines we have come to expect from it. Equipped with high-performance, modern facilities and skillfully managed, the vast Nancy Bignon-Cordier estate, led by Jean-Michel Laporte, is reviving the glory of its past, producing wines that are more subtle and refined than ever. A flamboyant wine, the archetype of the great classic Saint-Julien.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 92/100

About wine:

There is so much sweet tobacco and blackcurrant on the nose, followed by a full body with relatively delicate tannins for the appellation. Character of berries and dark chocolate. Round tannins. Needs 3 or 4 years to soften. Talbot's second wine. Try after 2024.

About wine:

A precise nose of red fruits and fresh flowers, evolving towards more meaty and bloody accents. The palate is fluid and silky, with a lovely freshness on the finish. Enjoy with a good steak.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2020 guide) 92-93/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is fruity, aromatic, and offers power and a little intensity. There are notes of wild blackcurrant, boysenberry, and, more subtly, violet/lily, combined with delicate hints of blue berries, licorice, and subtle touches of spice/pepper. The palate is fruity and balanced, offering a juicy/tart structure, lovely definition, precision, tension, power, and bright, tart, juicy fruit. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/tart raspberry, blackcurrant and, more subtly, small red berries, as well as subtle hints of morello cherry, racy minerality/terroir, violet, cardamom, ripe almond and subtle hints of tonka bean. Good length. The tannins are racy and structuring.
