James Suckling
“A Pinot Noir from a vineyard exclusively owned by Maison Bichot: silky and vibrant!”
“Bursting with blackcurrant and cherry, this lively Pinot Noir is beautifully balanced on the palate, with medium body and a silky texture. While not overly complex, it is very appealing. From a 3.5-hectare vineyard. Made from organically grown grapes. Ready to drink now.” (James Suckling 2025)

Rated estate (2022 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
This historic winery, founded in 1831, is now run with great energy by Albéric Bichot, the sixth generation of a family whose presence in Burgundy dates back to the 13th century. Supported by Alain Serveau (technical director) and Christophe Chavel (wine director), these three musketeers have successfully built a unique model of a Burgundian winery, with Bichot-labeled wines across all the appellations of Greater Burgundy, as well as four estates rich in fine crus: Long-Depaquit for Chablis, Clos-Frantin for the Côte de Nuits, Domaine du Pavillon for the Côte de Beaune, and Domaine Adélie for the Côte Chalonnaise.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
This historic Beaune winery, led by Albéric Bichot since 1996, has not always been known for the consistency and quality of its wines. Things have changed significantly since then. Under the Albert Bichot label, you’ll find wines from six estates: Long-Depaquit in Chablis (see this address), Clos Frantin and Château-Gris in the Côte de Nuits, Domaine du Pavillon, Domaine Adélie in the Côte Chalonnaise, and Domaine de Rochegrès in Beaujolais. Each of these estates has its own winemaking facilities and dedicated teams, led by the general technical director, Alain Serveau.
