Hachette

“While white wines tend to overshadow the reds in Chassagne, it is a Pinot Noir that puts this estate—nestled amid the vineyards of Morgeot—in the spotlight, with a wine crafted from a plot adjacent to the cellar. The judges praised the depth of the color with its violet hues, the intensity of the nose with notes of ripe cherry and blackcurrant, and the clean, generous attack that gives way to a full-bodied, well-structured palate: all the qualities needed to age beautifully.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2016)

Wine rated (2016 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated (2016 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the estate:

The estate traces its origins to René Lamy (Hubert’s son), who purchased land in Chassagne and Saint-Aubin. He thus established an estate that he passed on to his daughter Florence and his son-in-law Sébasien. The two have been running the estate independently for the past four to five vintages, while still heeding the advice of the previous generation.

About the estate:

René and Thérèse Lamy founded this estate in 1977; it is a trusted name in Chassagne and Saint-Aubin. Their daughters, Florence (in 1997) and Karine (in 2004), now manage the 15 hectares of vineyards alongside their respective husbands, Sébastien Caillat (in the vineyard) and Daniel Cadot (in sales).

Wine rated (2016 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

A quintessential family-run estate, Domaine Lamy-Pillot cultivates 14.5 hectares across a series of beautiful plots in Chassagne-Montrachet. Now run by one of the daughters, Florence, and her husband Sébastien, an oenologist (they have also established a 2-hectare micro-winery on the side), the estate produces beautiful, crisp, clean, and modern white wines that demonstrate remarkable consistency. Karine, the eldest daughter, and her husband Daniel handle the distribution of the wines and market a selection of Burgundy estates.

Doesn't live up to its name. Disappointing value for money.
