Domaine Lamy-Pillot - Pot Bois 2013

14/20

Bettane & Desseauve

The vines at Pots Bois are grown on stony, well-drained soil. As a result, this wine is full-bodied, lively, and has a distinct briny freshness. It is the most mineral-driven of Domaine Lamy-Pillot’s wines.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 14/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2016 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable vintage, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

The estate traces its origins to René Lamy (Hubert’s son), who purchased land in Chassagne and Saint-Aubin. He thus established an estate that he passed on to his daughter Florence and his son-in-law Sébastien. The two have been fully in charge for the past four or five vintages, while still heeding the advice of the previous generation.

Rated estate (2016 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

René and Thérèse Lamy founded this estate in 1977, a trusted name in Chassagne and Saint-Aubin. Their daughters Florence (in 1997) and Karine (in 2004) now manage the 15 hectares of vineyards alongside their respective husbands, Sébastien Caillat (in the vineyard) and Daniel Cadot (in sales).

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

A quintessential family-run estate, Domaine Lamy-Pillot cultivates 14.5 hectares across a series of beautiful plots in Chassagne-Montrachet. Now run by one of the daughters, Florence, and her husband Sébastien, an oenologist (they have also established a 2-hectare micro-winery), the estate produces beautiful, crisp, clean, and modern whites that demonstrate remarkable consistency. Karine, the eldest daughter, and her husband Daniel handle the distribution of the wines and market a selection of Burgundy estates.
