Critics agree that this Pouilly-Fuissé is on par with a Premier Cru from the appellation!

"This vineyard, located in the village of Fuissé, produced a wonderfully concentrated wine in 2022, with aromas of passion fruit and grapefruit and notes of hazelnut and spices. The texture is dense but not heavy, with well-integrated oak aromas lingering on the palate. The grapes come from a two-hectare plot purchased by Jadot after the acquisition of Ferret; it has been excluded from premier cru status, but its taste is, in my opinion, of equivalent quality. 2025-2035" (Decanter 2023)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

This 18-hectare estate, nestled in the heart of the village of Fuissé, was purchased in 2008 by the Jadot family, who had the brilliant idea of continuing its tradition and history by placing a woman at its helm. Following in the footsteps of Jeanne and Colette Ferret, who left their mark on the appellation, the moving and sensitive Audrey Braccini, driven by her mission to remain faithful to the terroir, has led the estate towards organic viticulture, with the conversion set to begin in 2020. All the wines produced are vegan. She also freely perpetuates the Ferret spirit, which is very consistent with the Jadot style, working on the liveliness of the wines through partial malolactic fermentation and skillful aging. A wonderful address, where mastery and excellence are the major assets. After remarkable 2019 wines, with a Tournant-de-Pouilly at the top of an exemplary range, 2020 sees Les Ménétrières just edging ahead. The rest of the range is not far behind.

About the estate:

In 2008, Louis Jadot acquired Domaine JA Ferret, one of the historic benchmarks for Pouilly-Fuissé wines. Madame Jeanne Ferret was one of Burgundy's great matriarchs, producing rich, concentrated wines, harvested late and aged on lees in oak barrels. Many of the wines produced under her stewardship—and that of her daughter—are still drinking well today. Today, the style has changed, but the wines of Domaine Ferret are just as worthy of attention. Winemaker Audrey Braccini produces fresher, brighter, earlier-harvested interpretations of Pouilly-Fuissé, and they are beautifully balanced, intense, and engaging, clearly differentiated by site. The use of new barrels remains decidedly minimal at this address, although the wines see longer aging on lees.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 94/100

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

Aromas of toasted sesame, bergamot, and mint in the Clos des Prouges, both generous and restrained, with a fairly tense finish that has great length and freshness.

About the estate:

The 2023 vintage is an important year for this iconic estate in the region: it marks the first year of organic certification and the first vintage produced by Clément Robinet, who brings with him a wealth of experience gained in the United States and at Comtes Lafon in Meursault and Mâconnais. He has just taken over from Audrey Braccini, renowned for her talent as a winemaker, who had been in charge since the estate was acquired by Louis Jadot in 2008 and successfully developed new cultivation practices through soil management. Most of the vines are located in Fuissé, supplemented by some beautiful plots in Vergisson. Since the 2020 vintage, almost all of the estate's Fuissé wines have been classified as premier cru, with the exception of Clos de Prouges. Old vines and low yields contribute to the exceptional quality of the wines, which always age beautifully but are often austere in their youth. We sense a shift towards more precise and transparent aging, with great respect for the terroirs.

About wine:

The Pouilly-Fuissé Clos des Prouges 2022 is an atypical wine that is not classified as Premier Cru due to a lack of historical references according to the INAO, although the estate treats it as such. It has a lovely nose of red apples, almonds, and crushed stones, with notes of praline in the background. Beautiful definition. The palate is medium-bodied with a fairly concentrated attack. Here again, it tends towards the richer style of Pouilly-Fuissé with impressive depth on the finish, although I would like it to have a little more liveliness. Nevertheless, it is delicious. 2025-2035
