About the estate:

Perched on Mont Pouilly, just outside the hamlet, this château has stood proudly since 1551 amid its 7 ha of vineyards. At the helm since 1981, Ms. Canal du Comet aims to restore the prestige of this estate, which played a leading role in the World’s Fairs between 1862 and 1912. Traditions are upheld here, from the vineyard to the bottle (12-month winemaking process, blending before bottling, and extended aging in the bottle).

After having previously purchased the 2016 vintage, and taking into account the reviews (2 stars and a “favorite” rating) from the 2022 Hachette Guide, I bought another 6 bottles of the 2019. The 2016 had made a good impression (though it was relatively mild and restrained for a Pouilly-Fuissé). The 2019 confirmed this impression and fell short of expectations (especially given the Hachette reviews). It’s a nice, well-balanced Chardonnay with ripe fruit and decent acidity, but overall I found this wine unimpressive and rather disappointing for the price. Did the Hachette Guide jury really taste the same wine?? I have my doubts...
