Roc des Boutires Estate
Located in the heart of the hamlet of Pouilly, across from the majestic Solutré rock, the Roc des Boutires estate spans 4.2 hectares across the finest vineyards of Pouilly-Fuissé. The Parinet family and Brice Laffond, originally from Château du Moulin-à-Vent, a few kilometers to the south, produce exceptional Chardonnays here—pure, elegant, and in very limited quantities.

The Domaine du Roc des Boutires is located in the village of Pouilly itself, right in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. Its name refers to two elements: its proximity to the Solutré rock, an emblem of the appellation and a testament to the extraordinary geological richness of this wine-growing region; and its location at the very heart of one of the appellation’s greatest terroirs, ‘Aux Bouthières’. In Old French, a ‘boutière’ refers to a secondary road used by muleteers to transport oil and wine to remote areas further inland. We are located precisely here, 5 kilometers west of the old route of the Via Agrippa, on a small road that leads to the hamlet of Solutré, the Mâconnais mountains, and the plains of the Charolais. The names all have a story here!

Some of the vineyards at Domaine du Roc des Boutires have distinct identities:
- La Grange Murger: shallow brown soils derived from gryphoid limestone
- In Bertilionne: brown/yellow soils derived from marl limestone
- In Les Bouthières: brown, clayey soils derived from residual clay with gravel
- Aux Chailloux: deep clay soils derived from clay containing pebbles and flint
- Aux Combes: loamy-clay soils with few stones
- Near Cras: shallow soils derived from hard white limestone

The Chardonnay vines, mostly planted in the early 1970s, thrive thanks to a winemaking approach that places the utmost respect on the vines. At the Roc des Boutires estate, the soil is carefully tended, and the entire harvest is done by hand over an average of four days. The berries are transported to the winery in small 40-liter crates to preserve the quality of the grapes and prevent premature oxidation of the juice. The winemaking process follows the plot-by-plot approach chosen by Brice Laffond and the Parinet family.
