Wine rated ( 2025 guide) 94/100 Favorite

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

With its natural expression, Pierrefolle offers a grain sharpened by its granite terroir. This sapid, brilliant wine offers radiant flavors and a very subtle lingering finish.

About the domain :

Claire and Fabio Gazeau-Montrasi took over this historic family estate in 1995. Certified organic since 2005, it consists mainly of Chardonnay vines in Fuissé and a parcel in Saint-Amour. All the estate's whites are aged for almost two years, giving them a natural patina, enriching them and enhancing their complexity. Due to exposure and altitude, the Pouilly-Fuissé wines have not been classified as Premier Crus, a fact that the enlightened wine-lover will not care about. The quality and consistency of the latest wines on offer have earned the domaine its second star this year.
The wines: the Saint Amour has a very tasty patina of flesh, a sensual, crisp wine with a beautiful intensity of fresh fruit. Finesse and aromatic complexity in the Clos Varambon: with its great intensity and haunting length, this ripe, fresh and caressing wine ticks all the boxes. With its natural expression, Pierrefolle offers a grain sharpened by its granite terroir. This sapid, brilliant wine offers radiant flavors and a very subtle lingering finish. Additional refinement is provided by Les Birbettes, with its magnificent scope, which resonates for a long time on the palate and unfolds with penetrating intensity on the finish, with great naturalness of expression.

About the wine:

Pouilly-Fuissé Pierrefolle 2022 has the particularity of coming from more granite soils (as in Beaujolais) and a slightly warmer microclimate. This translates into a slightly more mineral, rather "airy" nose, with notes of citrus peel and lime blossom that reveal themselves with aeration. The palate is taut and fresh, with impressive concentration and increased acidity that give the finish a real "edge". Excellent.
