"Hailing from the sublime terroir of the Côte Chalonnaise, this velvety and distinctly mineral Chardonnay is sure to delight lovers of the variety!"
This mid-slope vineyard consists of three blocks of varying ages: one planted about fifteen years ago, another 50 years old, and the third over 80 years old. Together, they produce a wine of exceptional balance, with character and a magnificent finish. “A wine worth seeking out. 90–92 / Top value” (Burghound 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 1 star (A high-quality, recommended wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
The Jaeger-Defaix estate comprises 6 hectares in Rully, including 4.5 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards, and has been certified organic since 2012. Hélène Jaeger-Defaix, an agricultural engineer and oenologist and the wife of Didier Defaix (of the Bernard Defaix estate in Chablis), is at the helm. A viticultural approach that involves plowing the soil and winemaking practices that respect the harvest as much as possible—with the aim of allowing the vineyards to express themselves—is beginning to pay off. The 2017 vintage has shown itself to be at its best, with wines of a classic and refined style.

Selected Winery (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the wineries listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
In 2002, Hélène Jaeger first took over a plot of Rully Premier Cru that had belonged to her great-aunt Henriette Niépce—a descendant of the famous inventor—and then the entire estate in 2005. Married to Bernard Defaix, a winemaker in Chablis, she applies the principles characteristic of fine wines, with meticulously tended soils and hand-harvested grapes. The vintages are vinified at the Chablis winery, which is fully equipped; the white wines are aged in barrels.
Burghound
Wine rated (2024 guide) 90-92/100
About the wine:
It is aromatically similar to Mont Palais, but with additional notes of petrol and citrus. The medium-bodied flavors are both more refined and exhibit a more prominent minerality that carries through to the clean, dry, youthful, and austere finish, which is slightly longer-lasting. It is well worth discovering. 2028+ / Top Value
