Robert Parker

"The Santenay 1er Cru Clos de Tavannes 2014 comes from a 2.09-hectare plot, the oldest vines having been planted in 1929. Aged 20% in new barrels, it has a bouquet of red plum and blackberry of medium intensity, with a subtle hint of iodine in the background. The palate has a certain grain on the attack and lively acidity, but this hides good substance and a pleasant, straightforward and rustic finish." (Wine Advocate 2015 - Robert Parker)

Wine rated (2017 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2017 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

From La Bousse d'Or to Patrick Landanger, via the Dukes of Burgundy and Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet, this estate has been home to the great men of Burgundy for over eight centuries. One of them, Gérard Potel, brought fame to the wines of Volnay from 1964 to 1997, until his sudden death. Patrick Landanger, who acquired the estate in 1997, took over the reins of his cellars in 1999 in order to carry out a series of colossal works, including a redesign of the winery, which now operates by gravity over six floors. Since then, the estate's wines have continued to evolve towards the pinnacle of Volnay femininity and an incomparably silky mouthfeel. The recent addition of Chambolle-Musigny wines from the former Moine-Hudelot estate only confirms this trend.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2017 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

In 2014, the Santenay Clos de Tavannes imposes its frankness and cherry notes.

About the estate:

Magnificent property in Volnay. La Pousse d'Or owes its rebirth to Patrick Landanger, who devoted significant financial and human resources to restoring the reputation of this iconic estate. He is responsible for considerably improving the winemaking facilities and acquiring new plots, particularly in the Côte de Nuits. The wines are all remarkable.
