"A Grand Cru blanc de blancs, distinguished, with an elegant profile—a real favorite!"

"A blanc de blancs that has attracted considerable attention in recent editions. Made from wines aged half in oak, it uses the 2020 harvest supplemented by a third of reserve wines drawn from a solera. Without imposing itself, the barrel contributes to the complexity of its aromatic palette, blending yellow fruits, candied citrus fruits, and honey with menthol and chocolate notes. A balanced, full-bodied and persistent champagne, whose low dosage emphasizes its freshness." (Le Guide Hachette 2026).

About wine:

A blanc de blancs that has attracted considerable attention in recent editions. Made from wines aged half in wood, it uses the 2020 harvest supplemented by a third of reserve wines drawn from a solera. Without imposing itself, the barrel contributes to the complexity of its aromatic palette, blending yellow fruits, candied citrus fruits, and honey with menthol and chocolate notes. A balanced, full-bodied and persistent champagne, whose low dosage emphasizes its freshness.

About the estate:

Established in 1962 by André Robert, son of a winegrower, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Since 2018, the founder's granddaughter, Claire Robert, and her husband, Jean-Baptiste Denizart, have been managing the estate, which boasts nearly 14 hectares of vineyards. Here, the base wines are often aged in barrels and all cuvées are aged in the cellar for at least three years. HVE-certified property.

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100

Rated estate (2025 guide) Recommended (Recommended)

About wine:

Like a walk in the forest in spring, after the rain, the nose combines an undergrowth aspect with floral scents of lily of the valley, before the comfort of a pie (apple or rhubarb, your choice) on the way back. This deliciousness is found in a full-bodied palate, brightened by a slight acidity that brings freshness and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the finish. A slight chalkiness is added at the very end.

About the estate:

It was in Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, that Hubert Robert (grandfather of the current owner) created the first group of winegrowers in the 1930s to press and vinify the fruit of their harvest together. In 1960, André Robert bought the current house, which has 19th-century chalk cellars. Chardonnay is the soul of the estate, with the wines being aged in barrels on lees with bâtonnage and late bottling. A collection of old vintages is available.

2014 base with 2013 reserve wine. Disgorged in 2020 and drunk in 2025. Pear notes on the nose. Quite ordinary on the palate. Good but not memorable.

A cuvée that I have been following for quite a few years and which never disappoints. A sure bet for an aperitif with gougères for lovers of extra brut cuvées.

Excellent champagne, just how I like it: lots of tiny bubbles, low sugar content, and a distinct Chardonnay flavor. Pure pleasure.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 08/30/2022

A delightful discovery, this pure Chardonnay is medium-bodied. Its very fine bubbles and light foam give way to a full, creamy palate, rich in butter, with a delicate patina and mineral notes. The lively finish lingers with notes of iodine. Freshness and nothing but freshness in this 10° cuvée, allowing the fleshy, salty texture of a sea bream tartare and langoustine tails with citrus to express itself fully. Average price. Rating = 4.
