“This Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs champagne has character and style, and will be a real treat at the table”
This cuvée reveals notes of crisp green apple, citrus zest, warm cookies, yellow apple chips, and marzipan. Medium-bodied, slightly vinous, and enveloping, it is a straightforward and crisp champagne built around a backbone of refined acidity that evokes the nobility of the terroir from which it hails. Pure class!

About the estate:
The estate was founded in 1962 by André Robert, the son of a winegrower, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Since 2018, the estate—which boasts a vineyard of nearly 14 hectares—has been managed by the founder’s granddaughter, Claire Robert, and her husband, Jean-Baptiste Denizart. Here, the base wines are often aged in barrels, and all cuvées are cellared for at least three years. The estate is HVE-certified.

About the estate:
It was in Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, that Hubert Robert (grandfather of the current owner) founded the first cooperative of winemakers in the 1930s to press and vinify their harvest together. In 1960, André Robert purchased the current estate, which features chalk cellars dating back to the 19th century. Chardonnay is the heart of the estate; the wines are aged in barrels on the lees with bâtonnage and bottled late. A collection of older vintages is available.

About the wine:
The 2017 Terre de Mesnil Champagne is ripe and sun-kissed, with notes of pineapple, pastry cream, and lime. Full-bodied, with an elegant, velvety mousse, it offers hints of caramelized peaches, a silky mineral texture, and a long, fresh finish. Best enjoyed between 2025 and 2035.

A lovely aroma and lovely bubbles, with a rich and smooth attack. It’s a shame, though, that the finish is marred by a harshness that takes over. It’s not exactly cheap either, unless you’re just going for the label...
