Champagne André Robert - Les Horizons Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut
16,5/20
Gault & Millau
“A lovely aperitif”
“The nose reveals a creamy, delicate bouquet, dusted with fresh almonds and Piedmont hazelnuts. That’s all it takes to win us over, especially since the bubbles are light and crisp, giving the palate a perfect aperitif character with a finish of subtle white floral notes and a hint of candied ginger.” (Gault & Millau Guide 2023)

About the estate:
The estate was founded in 1962 by André Robert, the son of a winegrower, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Since 2018, the estate—which boasts a vineyard of nearly 14 hectares—has been managed by the founder’s granddaughter, Claire Robert, and her husband, Jean-Baptiste Denizart. Here, the base wines are often aged in barrels, and all cuvées are cellared for at least three years. The estate is HVE-certified.

Rated estate (2025 guide) Recommended (Recommended)
About the wine:
The nose reveals a creamy, delicate bouquet, with hints of fresh almonds and Piedmont hazelnuts. That’s all it takes to win us over, especially since the bubbles are light and crisp, giving the palate a perfectly balanced aperitif profile with a finish featuring subtle white floral notes and a hint of candied ginger.
About the estate:
It was in Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, that Hubert Robert (grandfather of the current owner) founded the first cooperative of winemakers in the 1930s to press and vinify their harvest together. In 1960, André Robert purchased the current estate, which features chalk cellars dating back to the 19th century. Chardonnay is the heart of the estate; the wines are aged in barrels on the lees with bâtonnage and bottled late. A collection of older vintages is available.
