Gault & Millau
“We love many vintages at Gault & Millau, and this 2013—classic, pure, and beautifully expressive—is one of them. The nose is lovely, blending notes of chalk and citrus. On the palate, the bubbles are subtle and the wine is racy, taut, and chalky, without ever veering into austerity. You can pair it with seafood, scallops, and fine fish. A truly beautiful Cramant.”(The Gault & Millau Wine Guide)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
Located in Cramant, a premier terroir for great Chardonnays, this 22-hectare family estate is now run by Jean-Étienne and Jean-Emmanuel Bonnaire. Perfect as an aperitif, these champagnes are a sure bet in the region. The brothers also manage Champagnes Paul Clouet, a sister house affiliated with the family vineyard since 1992. Some of the cuvées are aged in oak, and older vintages can be disgorged upon request. This is a reliable producer that continues to evolve and refine its style.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the wine:
Hailing from Cramant, a mecca for Blanc de Blancs, this wine follows in the footsteps of the 2012 vintage, which was praised last year for its power. Born of a late-ripening, wet September, the 2013 vintage is equally complex, blending toasty and minty notes with tart exotic fruit. This acidity is confirmed on the palate, which is lively and features fresh citrus notes, revealing a rich, full-bodied character. Perfect with fish or a creamy Chaource cheese.
About the estate:
Like many Champagne winegrowers, the great-grandfather of the current winemakers broke away from the wine merchants following the 1929 crisis and began bottling his own wine in 1932. Today, the estate covers 25 hectares, mainly in the Côte des Blancs. Since 2012, it has been run by Jean-Emmanuel and Jean-Étienne Bonnaire, sons of Jean-Louis, who passed away in 2015.

About the wine:
We love many vintages at Gault&Millau, and this 2013—classic, pure, and beautifully expressive—is one of them. The nose is lovely, blending notes of chalk and citrus. On the palate, the bubbles are subtle and the wine is refined, taut, and chalky, without ever becoming austere. You can pair it with seafood, scallops, and fine fish. A truly beautiful Cramant.
About the estate:
Located in the Côte des Blancs, the kingdom of Chardonnay, with vineyards acquired in Fossoy and Bergères-les-Vertus, this family estate—founded in 1932 and based in Cramant—is now run by the fourth generation, Jean-Etienne and Jean-Emmanuel Bonnaire. Their 22 hectares of vineyards, planted primarily with Chardonnay, produce grapes destined for aging in tanks and old barrels (the Ver Sacrum and Variance cuvées, aged under cork for over 6 years). All dosages have been reduced.
