“A fresh and airy Blanc de Blancs, punctuated by notes of citrus, delicate white flowers, and juicy apple. On the palate, this lemony freshness lingers against a backdrop of mineral tension. With an ideal dosage of 7 g/l, it’s perfect from aperitif through to appetizers.” (The Gault & Millau Wine Guide) The perfect festive pairing: as an aperitif, with oysters, or just to celebrate!

Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

Located in Cramant, a renowned terroir for great Chardonnays, this 22-hectare family estate is now run by Jean-Étienne and Jean-Emmanuel Bonnaire. Perfect as an aperitif, these champagnes are sure bets in the region. The brothers also manage Champagnes Paul Clouet, a sister house that has been affiliated with the family vineyard since 1992. Some of the cuvées are aged in oak, and older vintages can be disgorged upon request. This is a reliable producer that continues to evolve and refine its style.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

Like many Champagne winegrowers, the great-grandfather of the current winemakers broke away from the wine merchants following the 1929 crisis and began bottling his own wine in 1932. Today, the estate covers 25 hectares, mainly in the Côte des Blancs. Since 2012, it has been run by Jean-Emmanuel and Jean-Étienne Bonnaire, sons of Jean-Louis, who passed away in 2015.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Recommended (Recommended)

About the wine:

A fresh, airy Blanc de Blancs, with notes of citrus, delicate white flowers, and juicy apple. On the palate, this lemony freshness lingers against a backdrop of mineral tension. With a dosage of 7 g/l, it’s perfect for serving from the aperitif through to the first courses.

About the estate:

Located in the Côte des Blancs, the kingdom of Chardonnay, with vineyards acquired in Fossoy and Bergères-les-Vertus, this family-owned estate—founded in 1932 and based in Cramant—is now run by the fourth generation, Jean-Etienne and Jean-Emmanuel Bonnaire. Their 22 hectares of vineyards, planted primarily with Chardonnay, produce grapes for aging in tanks and old barrels (the Ver Sacrum and Variance cuvées, aged under cork for over six years). All dosage levels have been reduced.
