Champagne Bonnaire - Tradition Brut
15/20
Bettane & Desseauve
“A Classic”
“A remarkable entry-level wine. Pure and elegant, with very fine bubbles and a subtle dosage—an excellent aperitif.” (The Bettane & Desseauve Wine Guide) In a classic Champagne style, the Brut Tradition is a wine with seductive fruity notes. A few spicy notes emerge on the nose, likely stemming from the predominantly Pinot blend. The Chardonnay, meanwhile, brings finesse and freshness. A beautifully balanced wine!

Wine rated 15/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the wine:
An outstanding entry-level sparkling wine. A pure, elegant wine with very fine bubbles and a subtle dosage—an excellent aperitif.
About the estate:
Located in Cramant, a premier terroir for great Chardonnays, this 22-hectare family estate is now run by Jean-Étienne and Jean-Emmanuel Bonnaire. Perfect as an aperitif, these champagnes are a sure bet in the region. The brothers also manage Champagnes Paul Clouet, a sister house affiliated with the family vineyard since 1992. Some of the cuvées are aged in oak, and older vintages can be disgorged upon request. This is a reliable producer that continues to evolve and refine its style.

About the estate:
Like many Champagne winegrowers, the great-grandfather of the current winemakers broke away from the wine merchants following the 1929 crisis and began bottling his own wine in 1932. Today, the estate covers 25 hectares, mainly in the Côte des Blancs. Since 2012, it has been run by Jean-Emmanuel and Jean-Étienne Bonnaire, sons of Jean-Louis, who passed away in 2015.

About the estate:
Located in the Côte des Blancs, the kingdom of Chardonnay, with vineyards acquired in Fossoy and Bergères-les-Vertus, this family estate—founded in 1932 and based in Cramant—is now run by the fourth generation, Jean-Etienne and Jean-Emmanuel Bonnaire. Their 22 hectares of vineyards, planted primarily with Chardonnay, produce grapes destined for aging in tanks and old barrels (the Ver Sacrum and Variance cuvées, aged under cork for over 6 years). All dosages have been reduced.
