Champagne Chassenay d'Arce - Sélection Blanche Brut Blanc de Blancs
Recommandé
Gault & Millau
"This new cuvée features a subtle blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, all in perfect harmony."
“The nose offers a lovely bouquet of citrus, apricot, and yellow peach, hinting at a tangy and invigorating palate. Then a beautiful richness sets in, with fine bubbles and a silky texture. The citrus and white flower aromas evoke a springtime sensation, reminiscent of a morning in the mountains, between melting snow and bright sunshine. The finish remains fresh and mouthwatering, with a hint of mandarin.” (Gault & Millau 2026).

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though a bit more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
This brand from the Côte des Bar cooperative winery (which charmingly describes itself as a “winemakers’ house”) in the Aube department has made significant progress and effectively demonstrates the undeniable potential of this “southern” terroir within the Champagne wine region. With the exception of the premier cuvée, which falls short of the rest of the lineup, the champagnes possess a distinct personality, as evidenced, for example, by the surprising Pinot Blanc.

About the estate:
Founded in 1956, this cooperative in the Aube department now has 130 members who cultivate 315 hectares spread across ten villages in the Arce Valley, near Bar-sur-Seine. Pinot Noir, the premier grape variety of the Côte des Bar, makes up the majority of the local vineyards.

About the wine:
The nose offers a lovely bouquet of citrus, apricot, and yellow peach, hinting at a tangy and invigorating palate. Then a beautiful fullness takes hold, with fine bubbles and a silky texture. The finish remains fresh and mouthwatering, with a hint of mandarin.
About the estate:
The cooperative, founded in 1956, now brings together no fewer than 130 winegrowers and encompasses a total of 315 hectares of vineyards. Overlooking the Arce Valley, in the heart of the Côte des Bar, this “winegrowers’ cooperative” is housed in a large, characterful 19th-century building. In a region where Pinot Noir reigns supreme, the landscape—with its alternating vineyards and forests—promotes biodiversity and enables an environmentally responsible approach. The lineup has been expanded with two new certified organic cuvées (“Les Authentiques”), and visitors can explore a new tour and tasting area in the estate’s cellars, as well as an exhibition titled “Les Effervescentes.” Of particular note is a vintage Pinot Blanc cuvée, a specialty of the estate.
