"Congo 2015 is a selection of the finest Grenache clusters from an old vineyard in the village of Real de San Vicente, planted on granite soils, sourced from the same vines as one of the vineyards that produce Tres Patas. Only the 2007 and 2009 vintages had been produced previously, as the labor-intensive process of harvesting cluster by cluster was too time-consuming. This wine was aged in French oak casks (the equivalent of ten Burgundy barrels, or 2,280 liters), where it matured for 18 to 20 months. It reveals notes of sweet fruit and the austerity of the granite soils. Let it age so it can blossom even further.” (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker) An exceptional Grenache!

About the wine:

Congo 2015 is a selection of the finest Grenache clusters from an old vineyard in the village of Real de San Vicente, planted on granite soils, sourced from the same vines as one of the vineyards that produce Tres Patas. Let it age to allow it to fully develop.

About the estate:

I have tasted a selection of Canopy’s excellent wines on several occasions. The wines always retain their freshness, even in a sunny vintage like 2015. The vineyards are cultivated using organic farming methods; all fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts; aging takes place in barrels that have previously held two or three vintages, with a preference for large containers, which helps round out the tannins without overpowering the wines. A top-tier estate, producing wines that perfectly reflect the vintage and their preferred terroir.
