"The approachable 2017 Castillo de Belarfonso Grenache was made from grapes grown in the village of Real de San Vicente, one of the villages in the Sierra de Gredos within the Méntrida appellation. It has a brilliant ruby color and a sparkling nose with intense aromas of red fruit and spices. It’s an excellent introduction to Gredos wines. I really enjoyed it; it transcends the typical characteristics of a warm vintage and offers a nice freshness.” A magnificent Grenache full of freshness!

I really enjoyed it; it transcends the typical characteristics of a warm vintage and offers a nice freshness.

About the estate:

I have tasted a selection of Canopy’s excellent wines on several occasions. The wines always retain their freshness, even in a sunny vintage like 2015. The vineyards are cultivated using organic farming methods; all fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts; aging takes place in barrels that have previously held two or three vintages, with a preference for large containers, which helps round out the tannins without overpowering the wines. A top-tier estate, producing wines that perfectly reflect the vintage and their preferred terroir.
