Nebbiolo
ageing wine

"Fragrant and imbued with extraordinary finesse, this radiant red offers intense aromas of rose, violet, fragrant berries, and camphor. The sumptuous palate offers flavor, energy, and an almost ethereal elegance, with flavors of red cherry, raspberry compote, and baking spices, as well as taut, polished tannins. It finishes with a note of star anise, while vibrant acidity keeps it impeccably balanced. It is already enjoyable but will also offer many years of aging potential. Drink through 2033." About wine:

The Gaja Barbaresco 2018 is a graceful wine with an elegant bouquet and a more powerful presence on the palate. The latest vintages from the iconic Gaja winery are among the purest and most honest expressions to be found in the Langhe. The flashiness we saw in the past has now been replaced by subtle nuances and the finesse of Nebbiolo, with crushed flowers, coriander, wild berries, smoke, tar, and candied orange peel. This change in character follows the slow and careful transmission of heritage from an older generation to a younger one. This 2018 vintage comes to life on the palate, thanks to its balanced acidity and the absolutely brilliant and pure quality of the fruit delivered with such care.

About wine:

Aromas of ripe strawberries accompanied by hazelnut, blood orange, and a hint of coconut. Full-bodied with very refined and polished tannins that give this young red wine a beautiful structure. Retro-olfaction on the freshness with delicious notes of berries, cedar, bark, and dark chocolate. As subtle as ever, but powerful and long on the finish. Very long and intense. Very classic and fresher style. This is a blend of seven vineyards, including Costa Russi and Sori Tilden. Available now, but will be better after 2025 and beyond.
