“The Tenuta Il Palagio 2022 Chianti When We Dance (made from certified organic Sangiovese and a tiny amount of Canaiolo and Colorino) is lively and bold, with aromas of candied cherry and red currant that stand out beautifully in the glass. It is not aged in barrels. Sangiovese’s approachable character makes it the perfect pairing for gnocchi in a creamy cheese sauce. The finish is fairly light but fresh, with dry, mineral notes lingering on the palate.” (Wine Advocate 2024)

Despite its very elegant presentation, I remain somewhat skeptical of this Chianti, which has a smooth, juicy, and lively profile with intense flavors of vibrant red fruits, though these are underscored by pronounced acidity. Prominent yet refined tannins accompany the vibrant, mineral-driven finish. I would have appreciated a bit more body and substance. Ultimately, it’s a bit pricey for what it is. It pairs well and is easy to drink with a generous plate of spaghetti alla carbonara sprinkled with Parmesan. Rating = 3.8.

Review by Mr. MASSIMILIANO G. Published on 10/30/2024
A very good Chianti, with a lovely Sangiovese character; the nose indeed reveals notes of red berries and geranium. On the palate, it’s a smooth wine despite its pronounced tannins, with notes of red berries and pepper, and lovely freshness... It pairs wonderfully with moussaka.
