“According to *The Wine Advocate*, this Rosso di Montalcino is closer in style to a Brunello: a harmonious wine that critics have described as fantastic and unforgettable.”

"The Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto 2022 Rosso di Montalcino also possesses a richness all its own, contributing to a more complex interpretation of this entry-level wine. Dried fruit, cinnamon stick, and crushed stone are its defining characteristics. I highly recommend this bottle for its balanced fruit flavors and medium-bodied texture. I would venture to say that this wine is closer to Brunello than to Rosso di Montalcino. [...] 2024–2030” (Wine Advocate – Robert Parker 2024)

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

In recent years, Gianni Brunelli’s fame and reputation have grown. Following his death in 2008, his wife Laura continued to manage the estate, which is now one of the most sought-after producers of Brunello, with wines subject to strict allocation. To experience his meticulous and painstaking style, choose this Rosso, which is full-bodied and harmonious, with fresh fruit, lovely notes of licorice and tea leaves, and excellent balance. In short, a beautiful expression of Montalcino Sangiovese that has benefited from a year of barrel aging. Slightly less open than others, it could benefit from an additional year in the bottle before being enjoyed. 2025–2034

About the wine:

The 2022 Rosso di Montalcino is exotic, with blood orange and clove mingling with dried black cherries, sage, and crushed stone. The palate is delicate and feminine, with lively acidity and ripe, soothing red and blue fruits. It leaves a slight tannic tension and a chewy texture, finishing with a long, haunting darkness. 2025–2031

About the wine:

A vibrant, fruity red wine that reveals aromas of red cherries, berries, and potpourri. On the palate, it is juicy, fresh, and well-structured, with lovely acidity and a clean, medium-length finish. While not particularly complex, it is well-balanced and delicious. Enjoy now.

About the wine:

With its vibrant red color, the 2022 Rosso di Montalcino offers aromas of grenadine, apricot, mandarin, and pressed flowers. This medium-bodied Rosso remains pure and concentrated, with a beautiful balance of fruit. It has fine tannins and is graceful, with a refined texture on the palate. Harmonious on the palate, it is fantastically balanced and will have a long drinking window over the next 10 years. 2024–2034
