“A classic Jura wine—an absolute delight for the discerning connoisseur!”

A Vin Jaune with typical, intense aromas of nuts, dominated by fresh walnuts. With a rich, powerful, balanced, and full-bodied palate, its lovely acidity makes it the perfect accompaniment to braised veal chops with morels, trout in Vin Jaune, or—perhaps most deliciously (simplicity can be a virtue)—a nice slice of Comté cheese!

Wine rated (2026 guide) 93/100

Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

It is one of the largest estates in the Jura, with 65 hectares of vineyards spread across the Arbois, Côtes du Jura, and L’Étoile appellations. The range, which includes numerous cuvées of all types of wines (ouillés, sous voile, crémants, macvin, paille, and jaune), with a majority of whites, was considered comprehensive but uneven, with some real Gems the older vintages. The wines have regained a certain consistency in quality.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 93/100

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the wine:

Powerful yet reserved, full-bodied, and straightforward, the 2017 Arbois Vin Jaune deserves a little more patience…

About the estate:

The Arbois appellation owes a great deal to the Rolet estate. While it has managed over the years to maintain a distinctive style—a blend of classic winemaking rooted in Jura traditions and technical expertise—the estate has not always achieved consistency across its entire range. The wines characterized by aging under a veil (particularly the yellow wines of Arbois) are the most consistently successful. In the spring of 2018, the estate and its vineyards were acquired by the Devillard family, well known for their Burgundy production, along with other shareholders. Under the leadership of Cédric Ducoté, the latest vintages demonstrate greater stylistic confidence and more consistency, which we are delighted to see.
