"Powerful and deep Chardonnay"

Deep, this 2018 Chardonnay Sous Voile offers notes of walnut and hazelnut, accompanied by lovely aromas of candied fruit. Powerful and concentrated, there is also a hint of curry on the palate.

Wine rating (2022 guide) 92/100 (2015 vintage)

Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)

About the estate:

Jean Macle, a prominent figure in the Jura wine region, passed away this winter. Tasting a Château-Chalon from the estate that bears his name is now more than ever a moment of particular intensity. A true "yellow" wine, straightforward, sharp, harmonious, and easy to drink, whose complexity comes not only from aging under a yeast veil. Now in the hands of Laurent Macle, this estate has produced vintages with such consistency and identity that it commands unanimous respect. Founded in 1850, it owns some of the steepest terroirs in the region, with slopes reaching up to 50%. The decision to plant vines on land that no one else wanted to venture onto at the time highlights the determination and passion of this winegrowing family, which has become synonymous with the Château-Chalon vineyard.
