Les Clos Perdus - Cuvée 181 2021
89/100
RVF
The first wine produced by Clos Perdus, 181 has since evolved and found its identity. This blend of southern grape varieties gives the wine a distinctive structure: Carignan for freshness, Grenache for richness on the palate, and Mourvèdre for intensity and complexity. A wine that strikes a balance between acidity and the richness of ripe fruit.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 89/100 (2019 vintage)

About the estate:
Paul Old cultivates these old vines using biodynamic methods in the region between Corbières and Roussillon. His minimalist approach in the cellar yields some standout wines (Prioundo and L'Extrême, both whites) but also some less successful ones, with certain vintages suffering from excessive carbonation and, at times, a lack of clarity. However, the wines age well and benefit from aeration.
