As a tribute to his daughter Clara, Pierre Quinonero focuses all his attention on the fruit when making wine. This blend of Pinot Noir and Grenache is refined, light, and very crisp! Original!

Rated estate (2019 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

After a period as a cooperative, Pierre Quinonero and Murielle Clavier bottled their first vintage in 1998. Located at the foot of the village of Caux, the vineyard includes old Carignan vines and ancient Ugni and Clairette vines, some of which are over a hundred years old. The Grenache and Syrah vines that have been replanted are the result of mass selection. In the cellar built with friends, the option of whole harvest with long maceration produces a red wine, Les Armières (90% Carignan), with solid acidity and tannins refined in concrete vats and wooden casks. Refusing to take the easy route, the small production of white wine is aged for a long time and is highly original. The demanding style sometimes makes the wines difficult for novices to appreciate.
