Château Puech-Haut - Languedoc Tête de Bélier rouge 2022
17/20
Jancis Robinson
"A great classic that never tires, ideal for lovers of the great wines of Languedoc".
"This is a powerful wine, with the richness of an Amarone, Christmas spices, cherry pie sweetness, the density of a Christmas fruitcake, and dark, silky tannins like gently smoking velvet. An almost overwhelming concentration, but somehow, Puech-Haut has achieved this tour de force. To be enjoyed with care." (Jancis Roblinson 2025)

About the wine:
Ironically, although the alcohol level is higher than Clos du Pic, the wine is fresher and much better balanced. This is a powerful wine, with the richness of an Amarone, Christmas spices, cherry pie sweetness, the density of a Christmas fruitcake, and dark, silky tannins like gently smoking velvet. An almost overwhelming concentration, but somehow, Puech-Haut has achieved this tour de force. To be enjoyed with care.
