Château Puech-Haut - Languedoc Tête de Bélier rouge 2022
17/20
Jancis Robinson
"A timeless classic that never disappoints, ideal for lovers of fine Languedoc wines."
"This is a powerful wine, with the richness of an Amarone, Christmas spices, the sweetness of cherry pie, the density of a Christmas fruitcake, and dark, silky tannins that smoke gently. An almost overwhelming concentration, but somehow Puech-Haut has pulled off this feat. To be enjoyed with care." (Jancis Robinson 2025)

About wine:
Ironically, although the alcohol content is higher than that of Clos du Pic, the wine is fresher and much better balanced. It is a powerful wine, with the richness of an Amarone, Christmas spices, the sweetness of cherry pie, the density of a Christmas fruitcake, and dark, velvety tannins that smoke gently. An almost overwhelming concentration, but somehow Puech-Haut has pulled off this feat. To be enjoyed with caution.
