About the wine:
Imposing power and intense magnificence. Black cherries and purple plums, a dusty hint of allspice, and balsamic depth. The fruit is sensual; the tannins are long, firm, and dense, beautifully polished to a shine. Notes of coffee on the finish. You’ll really, really want to pair this with a superb venison pie or a dish like “fegato alla veneziana” (Venetian-style liver with onions)—anything rich, dark, and gamey.

Even though the prices for this estate have skyrocketed since its early days, I just can’t resist buying this vintage as well as the “Tête de Bélier.” And the whites are just as good.
