Château Puech-Haut
The Château Puech-Haut, nestled between the shores of the Mediterranean and the foothills of the Cévennes in the town of Saint-Drézery, a small village 15 kilometers northeast of Montpellier. It was here, some thirty years ago, that the somewhat audacious dream of a passionate industrialist, Gérard Bru, took shape: to transform an exceptional terroir, then covered in garrigue and olive groves, into one of the highest-quality vineyards in the Languedoc, Château Puech-Haut.

A mission that has been a resounding success over the past decade: the Puech-Haut Vineyard now comprises some 100 hectares of vineyards that benefit from a very favorable Mediterranean climate, growing on soils composed of clay and limestone and covered with rounded pebbles—the same type found in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The grape varieties, selected by the Château Puech-Haut selected for their suitability to the terroir (Syrah and Grenache foremost among them), are grown using sustainable practices without chemical herbicides, and the grapes are harvested by hand at peak ripeness. Vinification, carried out in barrels and wooden vats depending on the wine’s color, is done separately by grape variety to preserve their full character. Finally, aging in barrels follows criteria that give the estate’s Coteaux du Languedoc wines a remarkable distinctiveness. Château Puech-Haut.

Château Puech Haut: where human expertise meets the wisdom of nature

The vineyards of Château Puech-Haut offer an exceptional wine that reflects both masterful craftsmanship and high-quality vines. The Puech-Haut experience delivers the full satisfaction of a grape variety with a unique character and a rich history.

A unique terroir set in an exceptional setting

Located on 150 hectares near Montpellier, between the Mediterranean and the Cévennes, the Puech-Haut estate enjoys a climate that enhances the finesse of its wines. Its founder, Gérard Bru, turned, after a distinguished career in business, to a simple plot of land to build his dream: to dedicate himself to his Languedoc land and bring out all its richness, just as his grandfather had done before him. “Am I crazy? I’ll let others be the judge of that. But when I have a dream, I see it through to the end,” he would say. This is the man behind this land, tended with love and respect, which now reveals its full potential through a high-quality wine.

A wine with unique characteristics, produced with respect for the land and its people

The vines are cultivated in harmony with nature, respecting the vines and their natural cycle. Vineyard management draws on a proven blend of traditional and modern expertise, giving each vintage its own unique character. The high quality of the Languedoc soil—composed of clay and limestone and covered with rounded pebbles—imparts the identity of the Puech-Haut estate to each grape variety.

A wide variety of grape varieties for a unique blend from Château Puech-Haut

The wines Puech-Haut red, blanks or rosés reflect the wide variety of grape varieties grown on the estate. After each harvest, the wines are meticulously blended according to the characteristics of the different grape varieties grown on the three plots that make up the Puech-Haut estate. The château produces approximately 500,000 bottles per year, including the cuvées Head of Aries, whose reputation is well established and which today embody the winemaking traditions of France and the Languedoc region. The red wines are primarily made from Syrah grapes, but also include Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Carignan, while the white wines are crafted from Grenache, Marsanne, and Roussanne, which lend the wines a rich array of aromas and textures. Château Puech-Haut shares with you its passion for the land and the art of winemaking.
