“Delicious, with a brioche-like character, enhanced by a hint of lemon zest, this is undeniably one of the finest sparkling wines from the Limoux region. Very lively, with a crisp balance typical of brut nature, the palate is carried by a fine effervescence. ” (The Guide to the Best Wines of France 2017 - RVF) Aged on racks for 24 months, with no dosage, this Crémant de Limoux boasts a pale golden color and offers notes of white flowers and verbena on the nose. Its refined, fine bubbles are beautifully persistent, resulting in a smooth, flavorful wine of great purity… Enjoy as an aperitif or with delicate dishes (oysters, scallops)…

Rated estate (2017 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
Delicious, with a brioche-like texture and enhanced by a hint of lemon zest, this is undeniably one of the most delightful sparkling wines from the Limoux region. Very lively and well-balanced as a brut nature, it offers a fine effervescence on the palate.
About the estate:
We are pleased to welcome Gilles Azam’s estate to our Guide. Located in the upper Aude Valley, in the town of Roquetaillade, it may well become the future communal cru of the Limoux region. For several years now, this production, centered around a few well-defined cuvées, has established itself as a valuable benchmark for the entire appellation. The result of careful viticulture, mindful of the value of the terroir and its historical roots, these wines possess a distinct character and consistently intense, fresh flavors that will blossom when exposed to air and paired with flavorful foods.

Review by Mr. JEAN NOEL L. Published on August 8, 2017
The bubbles are fine but a bit overpowering. The color is bright, the aroma floral, and the flavor somewhat subdued. Best to try it again in a year or so, once it has mellowed.
